Possible Goldwater Endorsement? (2)
Monday, September 10, 2007 - FreeMarketNews.com

Media sources say that presidential candidate Ron Paul (R-Tex) may soon be due a formal endorsement by someone from the Goldwater family's political wing. The endorsement, if it happens, is important because of the resonance of the conserative-libertarian Goldwater name.

In fact, it would provide a bridge from Barry Goldwater a five-term Senator from Arizona and the Republican Party's nominee for US president in the 1964 election, to Ron Paul who is is making increasing political inroads as the nation's current libertarian/conservative presidential candidate.

Goldwater is, according to Wikipedia, "the politician most often credited for sparking the resurgence of the American conservative political movement in the 1960s."

In a previous article, FMNN made the connection between Ron Paul and Barry Goldwater's 1960's movement, "Ron Paul Builds NH & Goldwater Rump." At the time, FMNN reported that, "There are several more prominent 'shoes to drop' in endorsements that will further solidify Ron Paul's claim as the rightful inheritor of Barry Goldwater's libertarian-conservative mantle. Goldwater's libertarian tilt changed the national conversation in the 1960s and propelled a kind of anti-federal government rhetoric that is again entering the mainstream political debate thanks to Ron Paul. There are millions of libertarian-minded independents and republicans - and these individuals are likely discovering their electoral sentiments even now, and realizing that they are the rightful inheritors of democratic-republican Jeffersonianism."

The most likely endorsement would come from Barry Goldwater, Jr. who has already spoken favorably about Ron Paul via a YouTube release (see below). However, sources said that a formal endorsement would likely include a video, formal press release and other presentations that would provide a longer-term, political frame of reference.

From Wikipedia:

Barry Goldwater, Jr. maintains his contact with Republican and Democratic leaders, as well as celebrity activists, while he continues to champion the conservative political movement started by his father. ... He has won several awards including the Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and an award from the President’s Commission on Employment of the Handicapped.

I don't think that this endorsement is unimaginable. In fact it makes perfect sense.

However, lately, I am beginning to question Freemarket News. They have reported a bunch of stories on Paul that have yet to materialize. It seems like they are reporting on hearsay instead of facts.

I hope so. It would be a good endorsement.
