Great article in defense of free markets, the start of it makes we want to punch someone but it ends well :D

Its really just a bunch of Ayn Rand quotes layed against a nice background, I doubt you'd appreciate their page on anarchism.

I could maybe be a minarchist. Just reduce the WORLD'S governments ~99.999%.

I'm opposed to labels generally, because I usually need a new one every year or two, but I'd never heard "autarchism" before.

I like the term much better than anarchism. Anarchist has a confrontational connotation, kind of like 'atheist'.

Wow, thanks for turning me on to this LeFevre guy:

"Thus, any study of freedom must concern itself primarily with a methodology rather than an objective." -Robert LeFevre

Just looking at some of his articles.

Like him already.

Ah, the "red pill" epiphany. :)

Alas, you are correct. We're witnessing the "Great" depression all over again.
Except with our weird 21st century twist.

That tour gets a little Utopian at the end. For all Ayn Rand's talk of reason, she sure takes a turn towards magical thinking.

And what the hell does this mean?

A society where art is not a disorganized pile of scratches, scribbled by a drug-induced hippie with his eyes closed, but is an enlightening masterpiece, showing man as he could be and should be: a hero.

Sounds kind of elitist to me. If a drug-induced hippie wants scribble a disorganized pile of scratches and sell it as art, it's his right as an individual. And if someone else wants to buy it, that's their right. Who is Ayn Rand (besides a hypocrite apparently) to proclaim what is or isn't art?

I understand her too. I just think she would be better received if she were less of a Utopian. And less of an elitist bitch.

Are Objectivism, individualism, reason, and capitalism the most practical and fair philosophies? Yes. Would everything be just peachy all the time? No.
