So sad, but so true.

Another disproportional responce by Israel during one of their election years. They somehow think that they can either via the economic boycotts and blockades or military attacks get the residents of Palestine to turn away from Hamas and accept a divided peace with Israel. It has not worked for nearly half a century now. All it does is harden their hatered and anger towards Israel. What has Israel done for the Palestinians? Denied them food and jobs and freedom to travel. What has Hamas done for them? Tried to povide jobs and built schools and done things for the communities. So who will the Palestinians support?

One Israeli woman was killed by a few rocket fired into Israel. Most with little damage. How do they respond? By bombing densly populated areas with repeated airstrikes killing hundreds in the first day and it is sill said to be ongoing. The US can support the right of a nation to defend themselves and still condem the scope of the actions Israel has launched. This is better for the US than merely saying that Isr. was proper in defending themselves.

Edit" Note to both sides: Neither of your neighbors are going to go away. You had better learn to get along.

I agree with your post here, I'm actually posting because I thought of your post while watching the BBC here in UK, a woman with ties to Israel spent 5 minutes defending Israel's actions, then ended by saying, and I quote, that "Hamas is a brutal dictatorship that is holding hostage the people of Gaza against their will". Now if that isn't the most blatant bullshit I don't know what is. The fact that the people in Gaza populary elected Hamas in a general election seems to have evaded the mind of this woman. Add to this what you said about what Hamas has done for the people of Gaza also. I do not like Hamas as an entity, but I'm thankful that at least someone out there is looking out for the people of Palestine.

My other quarrel of media reports is that they often omit the fact that many members of Hamas added to the deathtoll are policemen, etc. which have nothing to do with the militant wing of Hamas, they are merely employees of the GOVERNMENT of Gaza, once again as I said earlier, popularly elected by the people of Gaza. Just because the governments of Israel and the USA did not like who the people of Gaza elected, does not mean that employees of Hamas are legitimate targets for F-16 fighter jet air strikes.

This is appalling. Israel is awful. We need to slash all funding to Israel immediately. Israel is the most anti-semetic nation in the entire world. I guess it only makes sense to support such a nation with our foreign policy. Let them fight their own fight.
