Even the Tennessean newspaper is calling the TVA spill an ecological disaster. This is further proof that the government is the largest polluter in all the land, and that a case for smaller more limited government can be made from this situation. A smaller government pollutes less.
Oh - and since the government has sovereign immunity they are typically not held liable for these acts of pollution. And when they are, the taxpayers always have to shoulder the burden.
If a private company had done this you can bet there would be heavy fines and possibly even criminal prosecutions. Not to mention that company would probably be out of business and thus unable to pollute in the future. Because the government did this none of the above will happen. A smaller government is a better government.
