I want to hand out a DVD to help educate my fellow man this XMAS along with my gifts.

I don't want to be too pushy, so just subtly handing out dvd's seems to be appropriate.

I'd really like to educate people on the coming depression, and was thinking about putting the movie "Money as Debt" on the dvd. I also thought about maybe just putting Aravoths new video on there for the "WOW" factor.

Any ideas as to what movie i should burn and distribute?

Keep in mind that I am Canadian, as is my family.

Why recognize it then? Just skip it. Forget the presents.

I understand what you're saying and i wish it were so simple. My entire family is christian, and we hardly see each other, except on Christmas. I know we should make an effort to spend time throughout the year, but we are all so busy in our careers and whatnot, it just rarely happens.

It would hurt my family if i ignored this occasion. Why not use the opportunity to educate, instead of just ignoring the entire process?

Anyways, i dont want to throw this thread off course... can people start listing some good suggestions on DVD's, for completely clueless relatives?

Burn Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth".

Go into the store and literally burn each and every DVD of that movie that you can find. Perhaps go into people's homes and burn them as well.

I suggest Freedom to Fascism by Aaron Russo. It's well made and very informative about many different subjects. Also Ron Paul has on many occasions recommended this movie(to answer the question above). Other than that maybe some of G Edward Griffen's video's or books about collectivism.

America: Freedom to Fascism. Best movie I've seen. I'm planning on ordering a bunch of them. Google removed it after 3 million views. Hmmm I wonder who was behind that? I think you can buy them for $1.25 off of their website, freedomtofascism.com

F2F is good choice.

So is Fabled Enemies, depending on what information you want to impart.

Aravoth's new vid is great inclusion, so is GHoeberX's one on monetary policy...let me see if I can find that.

Here it is: The inevitable collapse of the dollar (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4n3g5lUgkWk&feature=channel_page)

I don't know of any "XMAS".

The word "Christ" and its compounds, including "Christmas", have been abbreviated in English for at least the past 1,000 years, long before the modern "Xmas" was commonly used. "Christ" was often written as "XP" or "Xt"; there are references in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle as far back as AD 1021. This X and P arose as the uppercase forms of the Greek letters χ and ρ), used in ancient abbreviations for Χριστος (Greek for "Christ"), and are still widely seen in many Eastern Orthodox icons depicting Jesus Christ. The labarum, an amalgamation of the two Greek letters rendered as ☧, is a symbol often used to represent Christ in Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox Christian Churches.[2]

Nevertheless, some believe that the term is part of an effort to "take Christ out of Christmas" or to literally "cross out Christ";[3] it is seen as evidence of the secularization of Christmas, as a symptom of the commercialization of the holiday (as the abbreviation has long been used by retailers). It may also be seen as a vehicle to be more inclusive. (See political correctness.)

are there any funny videos depicting the crash of the dollar, rise of socialism/facism and loss of liberty? I'm serious, are there any? It might be a good way to broach the subject with people that are hardcore obama-bots (and former mccainiacs). the late night talk show hosts always skewer the politicians and its hilarious because its all true. it might be a good segway into the deeper topics

I don't know that there is any film exactly like you described, but I think that's a great script idea. One film that sort of comes to mind is "Brazil".

I'd stray away, personally, from distributing movies, such as America: Freedom to Fascism, with excessive amounts of hyperbole, lies, etc. just for the mere fact that it could turn folks off to your cause and then they tend to write you off as a kook and find themselves unwilling to listen or debate with you on anything. I'm not saying F2F is guilty on all accounts but by my own, incomplete, research it is guilty of some; and I'm sure you get the general idea of what I'm trying to say.

I'd tend to prefer a movie that concentrates on one or two topics, gets its facts straight, and presents it all in a reasonable fashion.

For me personally, when folks hand me these movies, nothing turns me off more than seeing someone manipulating information by presenting it out of context, munging sentences or quotes together to create new meanings, twisting things around, or outright fabrication.

Your first suggestion, Money for Debt, sounds like a good focused movie and, I'm assuming, you like it and it passes your personal measure of approval. I'll have to watch that one and check it out.

One movie that I have been handing out is "America: Freedom to Fascism". Even though you are Canadian, I still think it would be appropriate for you to distribute. It is a very great documentary for educating people.

You can watch it here: http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=America:+Freedom+to+Fascism&hl=en&emb=0&aq=f# or you can watch a trailer of it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Y5jT58T3Tw

How about books instead? Pass out copies of 1984 by George Orwell. F2F may smell of kookery to those unitiated to the freedom message.

How about?

Plot summary for
The Corporation (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0379225/) (2003 (http://www.imdb.com/Sections/Years/2003/))

Since the late 18th century American legal decision that the business corporation organizational model is legally a person, it has become a dominant economic, political and social force around the globe. This film takes an in-depth psychological examination of the organization model through various case studies. What the study illustrates is that in the its behaviour, this type of "person" typically acts like a dangerously destructive psychopath without conscience. Furthermore, we see the profound threat this psychopath has for our world and our future, but also how the people with courage, intelligence and determination can do to stop it.

His ability to clearly present the ideas in a very non-threatening way makes this a perfect starter/primer.

I've personally pointed 9 different people to it and they ALL have come back to me thanking me for pointing it out to them.

Enjoy.
