A little bit back, someone started a thread about the similarities between Bush and Obama.. I think the tag was O=W. I wanted to do some investigating to find out just how true that was, because I want to be able to demonstrate this to others.

I'm in the process of looking for Bush quotes and Obama quotes, and plan to jumble them all up, then create an online quiz presenting people with the challenge of identifying who said what. The hardest part about this not in the content of the quotes, since they both tend to spew much of the same drivel, but rather in the grammar and eloquence of what is being said. Since Obama is much better at this than Bush, it makes it clear who said what because of how it's said instead of because of what is said.

Here are the quotes I have so far:

- It is clear our nation is reliant upon big foreign oil. More and more of our imports come from overseas.
- A good compromise, a good piece of legislation, is like a good sentence; or a good piece of music. Everybody can recognize it. They say, 'Huh. It works. It makes sense.'
- If you're walking down the right path and you're willing to keep walking, eventually you'll make progress.
- We have real enemies in the world. These enemies must be found. They must be pursued and they must be defeated.
- We need to internalize this idea of excellence. Not many folks spend a lot of time trying to be excellent.
- Where the stakes are the highest, in the war on terror, we cannot possibly succeed without extraordinary international cooperation. Effective international police actions require the highest degree of intelligence sharing, planning and collaborative enforcement.

To the surprise of most, I would imagine, the above contains only one Bush quote (the rest are from Obama), and it's probably not the one you'd think.

I've also taken political quizzes on behalf of each of them in order to place them on the Nolan Chart. Oddly, they came out further apart than I would have expected. Here are my results:

Bush:

Obama:

The quiz taken is here:

And the answers chosen for each were as follows:

Bush
1) 2
2) 3
3) 4
4) 1
5) 2
6) 3
7) 2
8) 2
9) 2
10) 3

Obama
1) 3
2) 4
3) 1
4) 2
5) 2
6) 1
7) 1
8) 3
9) 4
10) 4

If someone thinks they have more accurate answers for each of these individuals than what I've chosen, I'd be interested in hearing it.

Additionally, any other evidence that can be provided to show that these two are more alike than different would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to put together an online resource for this material.

O=W

and the TRUE label for both are: Centralized Statist... Complete control with as much centralized power as possible. It may give the appearance of differences... and different paths to reach the SAME OUTCOME/OBJECTIVE!
