Welcome,

This group is to put you in the place of our Executive and Legislative branchs of government. We write and vote on bills just like the real U.S. government. We follow the U.S. constitution. Real world political figures don't exist, but every law up to the present date does. Of course, somethings will be different from the real world. When you read more about the group below you will understand more about this group and how it works. Upon entering the group you will be asked three questions. What state do you wish to represent, what party do you wish to belong to (Democrat, Republican, Libertarian Indpendent and Nationalist) and what is your last name. Nicknames will not be allowed. If you are an Indpendent you must decide what party you wish to caucus with Democrat or Republican. After you decide which party you will caucus with you will be counted in with that party to see which of the two major parties holds the majority.

President- The President is elected by popular vote and can only serve two terms of four months each. Presidential elections are to be held on the first tuesday every four months. The President will be sworn into office on the 20th of that same month.

Vice President- The Vice President along with the President can only serve two terms of four months each. The Vice President will also serve as the tie breaking vote in the Senate and will handle all ballots for the Senate to vote on. The Vice President can not be elected seperate from the President, the person running for President must pick their person before they are put on the ballot.

Senate- There will be 50 Senators, one from each state. This is an elected office which means you must be elected to hold these postions. If you leave the Senate for any reason you must be elected back. This person will be elected to serve six month terms and they are not term limited. Once a person is un-seated they will return to the congress. If someone resigns for the Senate, the leader of their party will nominate someone to finish the term. The elections for this office will be held on the first tuesday every six months and will will be sworn in on the 20th of that same month. Parties can decide whether or not they want to elect Majority and Minority leaders.

Congress- There will be 100 seats in congress, two from each state. People who enter the group will be placed in the congress. If someone wishes to run for the Senate they will have to wait until the next election. For example, if you represent the state of Florida and you want to run for the Senate you must run for the Florida seat in the Senate. If that seat is held by a member of your own party, you must beat them in a primary. Primaries will be left up to the party leaders to decide when they are held.

Speaker of the House- What ever party holds the majority will elect the Speaker. In the case of a tie, each party will nominate one candidate and the congress will vote on who will serve as Speaker. The Speaker will not be term limited and will serve two month terms. The party with the second most seats in Congress will elect a Minority leader.

Supreme Court- Will consist of Three judges, one person being the Chief Justice. Unlike the real world any member can run for this office and can serve two terms of four months each. The election for this office will be held at the same time the Presidential elections are held. The out going Cheif Justice will swear in the new Justices on the 15th of that same month. After the election if there are any empty seats the newly elected President can appoint anyone he or she wishes to serve that term. Once the President is finished nominating the cadidates to fill the empty seats the Senate can hold hearings to decide whether that person is the best candidate.

President's Cabinet- The President can appoint anyone he or she wishes to be in their cabinet. The cabinet postions are as follows: Secretary of State, Secretary of Defence, Secretary of Labor and the Attorney General. The Senate must confirm these postions before they take office. Once they leave the cabinet they will return to the congress. Cabinet members can vote on bills, but must vote with the house.

There are not many rules for this group, but if you threaten another member of the group or miss three consecutive votes you will be removed. If you are kicked out and want to return you must tell the group moderator and he will bring it to the attention of the Attorney General. Once the Attorney General reviews you case it's up to he or she to decide whether or not you will allowed back in. If you are kicked out for a second time you will be banned from the group permanently.

well.... my personal reason is to join and have open discussions on various laws, legislation, and matters. It could be a good way to have active participation in dialogues where others may learn and also share opinions.
