"Ballot Browser (http://www.tevsystems.com/warning.html), an open source program as part of the all-volunteer Humboldt County Election Transparency Project, was instrumental in revealing that Diebold counting software had dropped 197 ballots (http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2008/12/unique-transpar.html) from Humboldt County, California's official election results. Despite a top-to-bottom review by the California Secretary of State's office, it appears that Diebold had not informed that office of the four-year-old bug. The Transparency Project has sites at humetp.org (http://www.humetp.org/) and http://www.humtp.com (http://www.humtp.com/)."

You know, CNN, FOX, etc will spend DAYS telling us repeatedly every move made by some criminal (or celebrity.. or maybe both) - but we're lucky if we'll ever see mention of something like this on the TV. So when I'm sitting with friends/family and mention that our voting system is a sham they'll all look at me like my tinfoil hat is on crooked or something. Sheesh.

Hey Campaign for Liberty - how about some 60 sec public service ads showing why our voting system needs to be fixed? I'd donate. Or for that matter, how about some ads showing how the two parties rig the presidential debates? ..

If it were really 197,000 votes how would anyone but Diebold know?
