Yeah, sure, another $400 bil of funny money.

"We'll SPEND our way out of this bankruptcy!"

If you look at the funding for the bill you'll see the real reason for the bill. They want to fund two months of no taxes with the remaining money set aside for the bailout.

A bit of choice to the taxpayers...fund a bunch of banks, or pay no taxes...hmm...

It appears to be, there are no other reps with the last name of Paul.

To me the key to this bill are those TARP provisions. I'm pretty sure the Paul mentioned is Dr. Paul.

My first reaction to no taxes, after GREAT!, was "is there reduced spending somewhere to offset the reduced revenue?". And there is - KILL THE REST OF TARP!

There's also a provision that pays any Social Security trust fund shortfalls from the TARP fund if there happens to be a shortfall based on this tax-free period.

I say make it a tax free year, and find other cuts to pay for it! Go Ron Paul! Go Gohmert! Why wasn't this kind of stuff happening in 2000-2006?!?!?

Nice to see a couple of my state's reps Westmoreland and Price signing on to this. Yes!

Can we hope that this is just the tip of the iceberg of bills to come?!?

Just because we stop paying taxes for 2 months doesn't mean they stop spending for 2 months.

Maybe in reconciliation committee conference they can manage to agree to change it to "ABOLISH". :D

The Mr. Paul was Ron Paul. He's a cosponsor of the bill:

I'll take any tax relief I can get, but as a self-employed type of person, I don't earn much during Jan or Feb.

I could pay off a car with that extra money. I would go offshore in a heart beat and make sure I stay out the full duration ..... Hahaha We know that would be like winning the loto but guess what its not going to happen because no banker could get rich off of it.

I am as well. I wonder if I couldn't withdraw my entire years salary during the months of Jan and Feb from my company's savings and zero dollars for the next 10 months.

Can someone explain to me the steps of getting this passed. I know the basics House>Senate>President but how long does it take to get to the house to be voted on?

For example HR2755 has been introduced since 07'

The bill appears to be more of a statement than any real attempt to get this to pass, the logistics of it would be too complicated.

It's basically saying, for all of this money that you're spending on banks, the average American could have no taxes for two months.

Showing how the supporters of the bailout care less about the tax payer and more about their banker buddies.

I really like section 4!

And of course, if we can do it for two months then we should try it for 4. If it works for 4 months then try it for 8! If it works for 8 months then we should abolish the IRS ;)
