About This Legislation:
To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to suspend employment and income taxes for the first two months of 2009, and for other purposes.

I'd write my reps in support for it, but they're Barney Frank and John Kerry.

He's making lemonade with lemons. Honorable, but will never get support. Kudos to him. But those poor banks need that money.

Don't waste your time.

The ONLY reason republicans are doing this is because they know there is ZERO possibility of it even making it out of committee.

If they wanted it done, they could have easily done it 3 years ago. This is simply part of their game to "convince" disaffected voters that republicans want to cut taxes. No, they simply want power, nothing more. Once they have that power, do you honestly think they will reduce it by "shutting off" the income tax for 2 months?

Your time will be much better spent with your family, or if you have none, preparing for the inevitable conflict ahead.

I would strongly recommend acting on this. You must understand, that the congress wants to do another stimulus deal anyway. If they cut the withholdings, that's essentially the same thing, but the benefit goes to working people. When people see their paychecks, they say, "wow, I like this!!" If it's big enough, this could help people pay off some bills. It may not be enough, but I'd like any tax break I could get. The nice thing about this is, PEOPLE WILL REALLY LIKE THIS!! It might even give them the idea, that we should continue to do this longer!! And that's one more step to eliminate Income Taxes! I strongly support this!!

I fully support this legislation I commented on my blog at C4L a few months back.

When will our leaders start looking at ways to meet everyone half way at the same time, deregulate, and undo something rather than doing something? Below is a plan to fix the economy in (3) easy steps. This Plan takes care of the tax payer side only, but that is the most important part.

1.) End the Income Tax -- each week people will have more money in their pocket to spend.

2.) Merge worker compensation insurance, with employee insurance. Health and safety insurance shouldn't be limited to whether someone is on the job or not. One insurance to cover the employee on and off work.

3.) Provide a payroll tax exemption to employers who provide health insurance at no cost to their employees and immediate family. This allows for insurance companies to make prices cheaper for employers to sign up their workforce. Insurance companies will offer lower rates when the competition over employees begins.

All of this requires no additional expense to the tax payer...yet, it's a win win all the way around. And, the money now in the employees paycheck allowing for additional purchases or paying their debt down. Now someone take this idea and put it through congress please :)

This income tax suspension does all the right things. Stimulus checks cost more money to implement and oversight. Simply requiring employers to do nothing requires no effort and is equivalent of a Stimulus without increasing debt...at least it has the same effect.

EXACTLY! People are like wild animals...once they get a taste for something good they will do anything to get more :)

I could use the $800 every paycheck I pay to government.

It will not work......because even if it passes.....the 2 months
will just be breathing room for "we the people"

Nobody will spend money.

60 days is not enough
