I agree with Truth Warrior, I'm sure that religion and politics have been linked as far back as the stone age. Of course, over the years as religions change and political structures change, the exact details of how religion and politics influence each other changes as well.

Religion and politics are both the very same thing. They are both only, very old and very effective, means to control large masses of people. It has always only been that way, and it always only will be.

The ends do NOT justify the means.

If that is true, and religion is used to control large masses of people, why are you so outspoken about your opinion by which this 'large mass of people' might be offended? If religion 'controlled,' you would be too afraid to voice this opinion of yours.

Don't you fear this 'large mass of people?' After all, according to other thread, Christians have done some horrible things to nonbelievers - if we are such a large mass, maybe you should watch what you say so you don't anger the 'controlled.'

Religion IS controlling a large mass of people, not us but rather YOU. Those who buy into it are the ones being controlled. At least that is what I got from his response that you were talking about.

I believe he was calling those like yourself who believe in religion, faith or what have you are the ones being controlled.

We happen to tune into a different frequency I think....

As far as worrying about what is being said, LOL.......

Large mass of people LIKE sheep are not really something to worry about being overran from, they are usually the ones who follow what is being taught or told TO them. Why else do they call it a flock, fold or whatever other name they use for "fellowshippers" "followers" and so on.

One mass of sheep won't really do much to another mass of sheep anyways, they both just make alot of noise but never really go anywhere.

I don't know how many times this has to be brought to your attentions, but everyone is religious. Whatever you put first in your life is your god, and whatever your beliefs are which control your behavior are your religious beliefs.

You don't think the secularists in our country (especially on the political left) have a religious agenda, too? That should be evident from the historical cases of taking prayer and Bible reading out of the schools as well as removing the Ten Commandments from public institutions.

If you think that only those on the political right have a religious agenda and not those on the left, then you have been seriously duped. The removal of any religious acknowledgment and teaching which assumes there's a God (particularly the Christian God) from the public's attention is just the foundation laid to institute a new religious paradigm--secular humanism.

Why do you think socialism has invaded out country so well? It's due to the removal of any Godly emphasis upon our nation's economic and social system. Even liberal sociologists such as Max Weber (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirit_of_capitalism) understood how important the Christian ethic was to the rise of our capitalist system here in America. If we're not careful, communism will soon creep in all under the guise of religious neutrality for the State.

This is actually by definition YOUR opinion not fact. Everyone is religious depending on what they put first in their life? Where did you get that?

Wouldn't whatever you put first in your life be called a PRIORITY and not a religion?

Yes, the person or thing which you live for or towards the most is essentially your god. It can be a wife, a career, an ideology, entertainment, etc. It is your god, and you live in devotion and loyalty of attaining its glory or pleasure.

Religious beliefs are based upon the values, morals, and ethics which one places the highest importance and attention (priority) to in his life and carries out towards society. So, priorities and religion go hand-in-hand.
