Well for one it's laraza, that's enough for me right there. They think anyone who wants to do anything about illegal immigration is racist against Latinos. They also believe in retaking the southwestern U.S. by massive reproduction.

I'll point out the article keeps using the term 'major Republican candidates.'

I'm hispanic. I actually care very little for a Spanish debate. I didn't watch the Democrats debate and my parents thought it was some sort of joke. Besides, most of the people who watch Univision aren't elligible to vote. Believe me I know. The hispanic population who are elligible to vote speak English anyways cause they cared enough to go through the system and learn the language. If they're gonna have a Spanish debate, they might as well have a debate in Dutch, German, Italian, French and Swahili.

"when Univision–the Spanish-language network with the top-rated local newscast in 16 media markets–scheduled an historic GOP debate on Latino issues for Sept. 16..."

Ridiculous collectivism.

Ridiculous or not...

According to the Drudge Report, Univision is now the #1 watched Channel in America

Give that Americans of Spanish decent are the largest minority group in the US, it seems silly not to more actively court them.

Best,

James

Actually, according to Drudge, Univision "claims" to be #1.

LaRaza basically means 'The Race' doesnt it?
if a bunch of white euros got together & called themselves 'The Race',
i think RP would stay the hell away from that too....

It's ok to be racist as long as you aren't caucasian. ;)

To fucking true. It's also ok to be sexist as long as you aren't male. I HATE these fucking double standards.

Like it or not, I don't think the good doctor is going to get much of the "Latino" vote. If a politician tries to do anything to curtail illegal immigration they are often labeled racists and xenophobic.

You mean, why the guy who wants to build a fence and cut off all the goodies for the dead beat mothers and what not refused to appear before LaRaza?
I have not a clue.

Would RP be required to wear a bumblebee outfit if he were to debate?

LaRaza doesn't want open borders, they want the border moved. They want CA, AZ, NM, and TX to be part of Mexico. Of course McCain accepted, since he wants that.

As a person of Latino background, I can tell you that Ron Paul would really not gain much in terms of the Latino vote. The majority of Latinos support some sort of amnesty.

And yes, La Raza translates directly to "the race". Lou Dobbs has many persons from La Raza on his show all the time and they call him a racist even though his wife is Mexican American.

This would not help Ron Paul. I think Dr. Paul's best bet is to reach out to assimilated Hispanics that have been in this country for a few generations and indentify primarily as American like me.

;)
