In Tuesday December 2nd’s runoff election we have a choice between incumbent Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss and Democratic challenger Jim Martin.

I urge you to vote for Saxby Chambliss.

Sen. Chambliss is closer to the Libertarian position on a number of key issues including: shrinking the size of government, less government spending, abolishing the IRS, replacing the income tax with a consumption tax and ending the government bailouts.

And there is one other major consideration: the Legislative branch of our government should not be a rubber stamp for the Executive branch.

There should be a check and balance between the two. The Democrats are close to obtaining a majority of 60 members of the Senate which means the opposition party, the Republicans in this case, will have very few opportunities to have meaningful input on legislative actions.

To me, one party rule in both the Legislative and Executive branches is a prescription for bad public policy decisions.

Please join me in voting for Saxby Chambliss in the US Senate runoff election.

This isn't surprising considering that not long ago Barr's PAC gave money to the neocon Chambliss (while Barr sat on the LNC/with a L candidate in the race).

Still, he apparently thinks there is a difference between the two parties. Too bad he didn't buy a clue with that million bucks he raised.

Saxby Chambliss is another Bush/Cheney/etc

CHICKHAWK DRAFT DODGER!

In the 1960s, during the Vietnam War, Chambliss received five student deferments while attending the University of Georgia and the University of Tennessee College of Law and was also given a medical deferment (1-Y) for bad knees due to a football injury.

The scams and shams of American politicians... Another American ChickenHawk

Bob Barr should have a Bounty for his HEAD!

I don't blame him for wanting to give Chambliss a bump, he's about the last chance the GOP has to head-off a filibuster-proof Senate, but he really should've kept his mouth shut to maintain some kind of reputation.

I don't see where Bob Barr has a dog in this hunt, and for him to endorse Chambliss really shines a light on some potentially bad motives Barr may be harboring that I had hoped were non-existent. So yeah, I was taken aback by Barr's endorsement here.

Allen Buckley, the Libertarian candidate for Senate in GA, didn't endorse either Chambliss or Martin (the Democrat challenger). Instead, after garnering the 3.9% of the votes that caused the runoff to occur, Buckley wrote up a list of commitments for the candidates to sign before he'd endorse. Right on, Mr. Buckley.

Today is the run-off election day.

yep, and it's Brrrr cold outside.

I've received multiple robocalls every day for the past two weeks, excluding the Thanksgiving holiday (thanks GOP), asking for me to go vote for Chambliss. Today it's been Gov. Sarah Palin thus far. Others have been Ga. Gov. Sonny Perdue, Newt Gingrich(i think?), different RNC illuminaries, Ga. GOP head Sue Everhart, on and on....

I may have gotten one call on the Dem side, but barely remember if that really happened or not.

It's definitely been GOP GOTV all the way.

Saxby the Bailouter should walk away with this runoff handily, to my dismay.

I got a call from Mitt Romney, or his taped-voice, at least.

Ron Paul didn't call me, though. Chambliss must not be that important. :D

Lol, I just had a mental picture of Ron Paul calling and begging for me to vote for a neo-con.

Thanks, but no thanks, Saxby.

...other than the art of persuasion, that is.

"Sen. Chambliss is closer to the Libertarian position"

snore

How 'bout someone who's actually a libertarian and not your typical republican?

Bob Barr is still a neocon who just throws the word "libertarian" around now and then when it suits him to do so.

The Libertarian Party was duped into nominating him- a mistake which cost them dearly. They sold out their principals and gained NOTHING by running a "big name" neocon in Libertarian clothing instead of the normal "unknown" libertarian.

The faster the LP cuts ties to Bob Barr, the better!

Its not just the Republican party that needs to rebuild- the LP is in the same boat.

Well, the guy does have a cool name. Saxby Chambliss....it's fun to say. Try it.

I'm so glad I didn't vote for him. I was completely wrong to ever think he was a good choice for the LP.

Yup.

There was no Libertarian candidate in the race- you had Obama (big government socialist), McCain (big government neocon ass), Barr (big government neocon ass) and a bunch of irrelevant minor candidates.

Some choice...
