WASHINGTON (AFP) — George W. Bush hopes history will see him as a president who liberated millions of Iraqis and Afghans, who worked towards peace and who never sold his soul for political ends.

"I'd like to be a president (known) as somebody who liberated 50 million people and helped achieve peace," Bush said in excerpts of a recent interview released by the White House Friday.

well if his "team" wins, I'm sure the statist history books will definitely make it so.

Why do you say Teddy & JFK?

Why do you say Teddy & JFK?

I can understand Teddy, cuz of his "progressivism" and government expansion, but not JFK. I think he's referring to the cold war or something. Please elaborate, Mr. Collins. :)

JFK was a foreign policy disaster. Once Eisenhower was gone, the Ruskies smelled weakness at Vienna and we got the Berlin Wall and the CMC

not to mention his "best and brightest" coming up with Bay of Pigs and 'nam

The history books will also show that when he took office, gas was 1.46, and when he left, it was 1.50.

Teddy because he was an imperialist and was a foreign policy disaster. JFK because he was an idiot and almost took us to nuclear war with Russia over Cuba. Also JFK began talking out of his butt about nuclear build up and it made the Soviets nervous because they didn't know what this guy was saying. So they started building up too. And then more and more saber rattling until it became very dangerous. JFK pretty much caused the entire thing. When Soviet Union placed missiles 90 miles from the US it made us very nervous. When the US placed missiles just a few hundred miles from Moscow it made the Russians very nervous.

And the embargo was not necessary.

Not to mention all of those new homes that were built -- and how many people were able to get mortgages and stuff that never could before -- and how many realtors and mortgage salesman were able to make BIG bucks... ah good times those GWBush years.

Plus the Dow went all the way up to 14,000! (And then sadly it crashed as soon as it became apparent that the Obama guy was gonna get elected... yeah that must be what caused it, right?)

WOW... I never realized just how EASY and maybe even FUN (in a warped psychotic way**) it could be to write distorted history for government textbooks and stuff! All you have to do is carefully "forget" certain things, and then relate things in "new" ways to make it look like a different cause-and-effect... and BINGO!

**Hmmm, now THAT is making me wonder. Maybe the motivation for establishment writers and spin-meisters is entirely different than we think, maybe they simply derive some weirdly warped psychotic "pleasure" out of F'ing with people's minds???

how ironic. "liberates" 50 million and ruins the freedom of 300 million at home.
and achieves peace by making war -- I suppose that can be done in some instances, but wasn't done in this one.

not to mention ruining our armed forces and the economy, ballooning the debt and deficit, and if not promoting, at least allowing, pilfering of the budget (would that be graft and corruption?)

Actually he will be better remembered as 'the moron'.

I have never seen some one so arrogant and hypocritical, not to mention intellectually bankrupt ... that last statement is testimony to that.

He is the timeless example of what the wisest scholars would call stupid and foolish.

Don't get me wrong ,I do not hate the man, but he had no business as President. He would have made a perfect Enron executive.

Enron executives took Enron down, and W. has taken the country down. good analogy.

It would be cool to have our Presidents named like monarchs. Let's start with "George Washington the Cunning," than "John Adams the Silencer," or we could call Adams "the fool."

I've always said that most POTUS are psychopaths and Bush's latest statement just reinforces the idea. As long as Bush can promote his legacy, the textbook version as envisioned by his delusional mind, he'll crap on our Constitution as long as he's free to do so. Remember his ill fated remarks about our Constitution being just a G'damned piece of paper. Personally, I'd like to see this guy pursued to the ends of the earth, captured, tried, and true justice executed.

Just generally an idiot: check
Almost assassinated by a pretzel: check

I just don't see how anyone could even remotely believe he is a "liberator of millions". Then again he's generally an idiot.
