I live in Nebraska and many of you might know we've had some 'problems' recently with people from out of state driving here and abandoning their teenaged kids off at a Nebraska hospital and have had numerous cases where in-state residents have left their children ranging from age <1 to 17 years old because of how badly the law is written..what's perhaps more disturbing is that the drafters of the bill actually said they thought something like this would happen but they forced the bill through because we didn't want to be the last state in the union to not have a safe haven law...so basically we're willing to cheat just so we can finish second to last (which I think Alaska was the only other state without a safe haven law).
Anyway, since this isn't a Federal Government question and requires more than the 10th amendment argument, how would Ron Paul and/or you deal with safe haven laws?? Should states even have them mandating hospitals to take care of these kids if they are abandoned by parents??
