On my way off to slumberland last night, I was wondering if there are any REALLY good movies out there about our founding fathers and the beginnings of our nation. I think it would be great if someone like Mel Gibson could come out with some awesome blockbuster movie that helps the average American realize what has become of us. Does anyone know if there's any such thing in the making?

I thought of The Patriot, and Braveheart (not American, but freedom is the theme). Does anyone know of any others? It would be cool if somehow we could get this kind of movie pushed hard in the next 4 months. Maybe have meetup parties where we invite outsiders in to get a taste of RP's freedom message as seen through history....?

On Oct 19, 2007 the movie RENDITION (http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1809794083/details)comes out. The Ron Paul Meetup groups should be out in force at the movie theaters for Friday and Saturday night on opening weekend.

As people come out of the movie they should be greeted with Ron Paul signs and 'Stop Rendition; Vote Ron Paul' I think this is a great opportunity; especially if it were coordinated by all the Meetups country wide.

Not a great glossy blockbuster... but I've always relished the movie '1776,' which is a musical (corny by today's standards) where the hero is a frustrated, impassioned John Adams. A real feelgood pic that also highlights how lonely it can be to lead a revolution, and how revolutionaries have to hang together... patriotism without fascism and socialism.

Reading Ron Paul's recollections of how he felt lonely for a few minutes after the debate where Giuliani tangled with him, and then staffers came in and said the internet was going wild for him, this reminded me of a big scene in '1776' where John Adams sings,

'Is anybody there? Does anybody care? Does anybody see what I see?'

and a voice out of the darkness says, 'I do, Mr. Adams."

P.S. The movie '1776' was based on the letters of John and Abigail Adams. There's a fascinating selection of their letters in "The Book of Abigail and John," which I highly, highly recommend.
