Most national spin-doctors predict that our nation will suffer 18 months of a recession. Of course, they conclude with this determination because they see a national problem. However, problems aren't solved on a national level but on the local. National problem solving poisons our economy with lobbying which creates huge corporations and special interest groups. These organizations do not deal intimately with the people, whether they be workers or employees, but use lawyers as their mouthpieces to communicate with them.
The real war in recovering the economy deals with perception. People need to turn their attention to organizing inventive small companies on the local level. This entails slashing government jobs and, more important, government pay. Government positions, non-productive entities, should always trail priviate sector jobs in compensation by at least 20%.
Small companies are more productive, grow faster, pay their employees better and create more tax revenue than huge corporations. Huge corporations, through their lobbying for forgiveness of past sins and future indulgencies, have become part of the Federal aristocracy.
This solution does not take years and years to implement. It literally happens overnight when our attention is directed away from the Federal level to the local level.

Excellent post. The suffering of large corporations is a great opportunity. My local city council has just formed a committee to promote local spending - a great opportunity for me to promote a local barter currency. Any suggestions from anyone on what to tell them as they are requesting input from their constituents?

Yeah the stupid feds are why we have product activation/DRM, war on piracy, endless RIAA Lawsuits, I know by what I talk about in this forum I am anti-corporations cause I been a victim several times by their greedy board of exes and investors.

I even heard that students had to drop out of school because of RIAAs relentless attacks. We are in communism where the only way of beating the system is killing or hurting people or breaking the law or being as bad as the mafia.

The whole evil communist system has been flawed by loopholes, lies, using anything from terrorism, to child porn to making sharers into thieves.

The only way to fix all of this is to stop the evil corporations, regulate our government and keep it from growing in power.

Before I was a Ronulan, I was a liberal...and before I was a liberal, I was born and raised a neocon. I started to have some misgivings with neocon dogma a bit earlier (and I'd wake up a little bit and then go right back to sleep), but it was only when I noticed the guilty-until-proven-innocent RIAA lawsuits and settlement racket, the way draconian copyright laws were bought by lobbyists and sold by the corrupt, the evil of the DMCA combined with DRM, the absurd rhetoric, etc. that I really began to seriously reevaluate my political views for the very first time...and nevertheless, it did not escape my notice that the copyright lobby seemed to be even more in bed with the Democrats than the Republicans. If it weren't for all of this, I may not have ever come around, and it would have at least taken a lot longer.

There is a lot of money out there. They need to sell some of their stuff instead of raising taxes.
