Is this the real Amero?

If you actually read what it said on the site you would have ur answer. "These private-issue fantasy pattern coins will be struck as an annual series (until such time as it is no longer legal to do so), starting in the latter part of 2007"

The "Amero" Coin that you display is as "real" as this "Layered in genuine 24K gold" Barack Obama coin:
http://https://www.obamacoins.tv/flare/next?tag=ED|SM|YH|TM|&OVRAW=obama%20coin&OVKEY=obama
:D
(that is not to say that the AMERO is not making it's way down the pike.)
Ps,
The Amero probably won't be "layered" in "pure" 24K gold like the Obama coin. lol
(yours for just $9.95, buy now!)
(that was joke)

I think we have a new winner for the ugliest coin, previously held by General Motors.

I think they've given up on a North American Currency. They have their aim set to a more international Currency

yeah except snopes isn't the end all be all "word of god" truth either.... snopes has plenty of stuff on their website that is bullshit, plenty of truth they call bullshit, etc

not that a lot of their stuff isn't true, but not everything is, so it can't be used as a credible source of information

edited to add: if you look on the sources section of that specific page, the sources they use are all NEWSPAPERS jsyk

Well, at least they provide a skeptical viewpoint. Something rarely found on these forums.

How would everyone feel about 1 oz., 1/2 oz., 1/4 oz., or 1/10 oz. Gold coins being the money for all? They would have some World marking (not government) on them and be .9999 fine. Since the value could change, they shouldn't have any denomination stamped on them.

Edit: This would be an interesting development. Suppose someone did the same job in another country versus your country, shouldn't the work be paid the same? With Fiat currencies the exchange rates can be set by law (or markets), with one world money, we'd all get paid the same. Hmm...does that mean it would lower our standard of living in the U.S. and raise the standard in Zimbabwe??

Thanks, I missed that.
