I decided to research this guy a little bit since that's who the media seems to be talking up the most, I have a bad feeling that he might be the one (s)elected in 2012.

Here's what I dug up on him.

Jindal voted yes on making the PATRIOT Act permanent, voted in favor of the 2006 Military Commissions Act, supported a constitutional amendment banning flag burning, and voted for the Real ID Act of 2005.

Jindal supports the teaching of intelligent design in public schools.

On June 25, 2008, Jindal signed the "Sex Offender Chemical Castration Bill", authorizing the chemical castration of those convicted of certain sex offenses.

I'm sure there's a lot more, but I just don't have the time at the moment

Since the Democrats won with an African American the GOP is trying to up-the-ante by pushing an Indian American.

Third Parties need to raise the stakes higher - I say we put up a Hispanic or Native American!

Didn't Nader have a Native American running mate back in 2000?

I researched him and this is what I found out. (Basically he is just another Bush)

Yes, I see that he has voted conservative on many issues, but looking at others (especially pertaining to civil liberties) it makes me question how he is a *conservative* much less leading candidate at all.

Voted YES on making the PATRIOT Act permanent. (Dec 2005)

Voted YES on requiring photo ID for voting in federal elections. (Sep 2006)

Voted YES on restricting independent grassroots political committees. (Apr 2006) (so running for an office now is about the corporations now... not the people?)

Bobby Jindal on Homeland Security
Click here for 5 full quotes on Homeland Security OR background on Homeland Security.
Voted YES on restricting no-bid defense contracts. (Mar 2007)
Voted YES on allowing electronic surveillance without a warrant. (Sep 2006)
Voted YES on continuing intelligence gathering without civil oversight. (Apr 2006)
Voted YES on federalizing rules for driver licenses to hinder terrorists. (Feb 2005)
Voted YES on continuing military recruitment on college campuses. (Feb 2005)

(That whole section is disgusting except for the last one and maybe the first)

Rated 0% by the AU, indicating opposition to church-state separation. (Dec 2006)

Voted YES on declaring Iraq part of War on Terror with no exit date. (Jun 2006)

"he also supported the bailout"

"he also voted for the implementation of real ID which is basically the same thing the Nazis used against the Jews. "papers please""

I don't know about you, but that looks like another Bush to me just with a slightly stronger stance on anit-immigration, anti-bortion, and anti-gay marriage.

what if mccain had opted for bobby jindal? would he have done 3% to 5% LESS in places? did sarah palin with a roughly equal level of executive governor's mansion experiance really light a fire whereas bobby jindal would have taken WEEKs more to grow on the g.o.p party regulars?

Jindal pretty much falls in line with the mainstream neo-con/social-con wing of the party. Along the lines of where Romney fell in. He will probably run and if someone like Palin or Romney gets the nomination he would be a contender for the VP slot.

Sad to say it, but Jindal is starting to become the new face of the party, not the same old white guy....

I hope he does not get the nomination 2012 or 2016

Are people like mccain really pro white(their voting records don't show it.)
or do you mean same old liberal white guy in pub clothing?

White = Pat buchanan. Someone with braincells.

Jindal actually just outlawed REAL ID in his state.

I have been wondering about him, my dad watches the news a lot and said "I like the Bobby Jindal". This made me wonder why the media is giving him so much air.
I told Dad I would look up more on him as he does not know how to use the computer. Thanks for all the info!

I think that the media is offering up the "more palatable" Jindal in order to distract from Dr. Paul- who is the TRUE & consistent defender of the Constitution. Jindal is a Socialist. His official policy on health care as Gov is: " I believe that everyone deserves access to affordable high quality health care. Everyone." This is from HIS web site.

The Louisiana LEGISLATURE voted the Real ID down. Jindal has been a puppet official since he was 24 yo. Why would anyone appoint a 23 yo a Secretary of Health and Hospitals as his first job out of school? Hmmmmm

"he also supported the bailout"

Does anyone have a source for this?

Being challenged on Bobby Jindal FaceBook Page:

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1008313840&v=feed&story_fbid=126673140182#/group.php?gid=53594254907&ref=mf

Making headway though - this guy ripped me on my original post and labeled me an Obama loving liberal. Today he sent me the following message:

"Hey bud, just wanted to tell ya that i like ya. I was tweakin you with the liberal thing--i was just messing with you. Please post on my Jindal wall--i want to have a LIVELY debate on the issues, we have a lot to learn from eachother. i support many of ron pauls positions--although i do disagree some with his stance on the war on terror, i can ASSURE you we have so much more we do see eye to eye on. from the taxing of personal income by the federal government, to federal involvement in public schools and countless other programs, to phasing our social security, to limiting our involvements and commitments overseas, and giving more liberty to the individual and fighting for the taxpayer, i believe your positions are awesome and MORE than welcome in the republican party. please just try to see why i get frustrated sometimes--i mean the fact that we have obama in there largely stemming from dissent within our party kind of bothers me. i really think obama has sinister intentions, and want so badly to see us on a united front in defeating this man. so please post on my Jindal wall, lets trade perspectives and ideas. i sincerely believe we can get this party back to where it needs to be, sound good ?"

He is another Palin type, like ice cream but just another flavor and color, I read he is more against abortion than anybody, apparently he said if his wife was raped she would not be allowed to get an abortion. Just wow! That might work with the hard core GOP base but you just can't win an election in America with just that anymore. Since they are voting in the primaries, you just never know, if someone like that could win the primary.

Sandra

I'm pretty hardcore conservative and run with likeminded people, but even most of us take exception with protecting a pregnancy in the case of rape. I don't think that staunch a stance will even get him conservative support. It doesn't anywhere.
