A former NFL lobbyist now working at the White House has been linked to an effort to finalize regulations to enforce UIGEA before Bush leaves office. This is a clear conflict of interest since the NFL has actively opposed all forms of Internet gambling except fantasy sports.

Here is a great piece in the Washington Post on the situation: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wpdyn/content/article/2008/11/11/AR2008111102935.html?hpid%3Dmoreheadlines&sub=AR

Thanks.

Why don't they just put everyone in a white padded room with restaints, so that the government can make sure that we come to no harm, from any source.
That way we can live our lives free of fear of consequences from bad choices.

Yeah, brick & mortar casinos and Indian reservations are lobbying AGAINST Internet gambling. Hmmm... big business likes big government because big government can regulate and legislate in favor of big business. It's essentially outlawing the competition. This is the classic case as to why the government should be small and limited.
