Odd how the article doesn't mention a single benefit to the cards that I could find, just that people, "can't wait to get them"
Loved this quote:
"She must be ignoring twice the number of people who are coming up to her and saying I don't want my details on any database whatsoever"

Untrue.

Biometric testing of face, eye and fingerprints could soon be used on every resident of the UK to create compulsory identity cards. BBC News Online's Tom Geoghegan volunteered for a pilot scheme and looked, unblinking, into the future.

Are you claiming that a photo of your face is not a biologically based identifier?
You're already carrying a biometric ID card. It's too late to throw a fit.

Uh, no. Why change the name when the term Driver's License has worked so well for so long?
Did you read the article? It includes a fingerprint, face scan, retinal scan, all embedded on a chip, hence BIOMETRICS. Taking a picture with a normal camera does not achieve all of this. My Iowa Driver's License does not fit that criteria.

The UK government has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that your information will be safe!
The loss of 25 MILLION citizens information last year was just a blip in the system, and that drive they found in October in a public lot carrying millions more data was just the BIOMETRICS TELEPORTATION device being tested. There is no harm to your personal data! It is all safe! Trust the Govmint!
