if the people around him weren' freaking out... it wouldn't be so stupid.
He was using it as an example and wasn't using it in anger or to counter an opinion.
In a free society, people need to get used to hearing things they don't like.
1st amendment protects unwanted speech too.

But.. but.. swearing is immoral.

To be more exact, it is cursing someone in God's name that is immoral.
There are only two words in english that would be immoral according the to bible.
damn and curse.
God damn you.
God curse you.
It was common in old testament times for people to curse others using their god.
This was forbidden by the god of abraham.
Ignorance spread such an idea to all words deemed evil by society.

liberals want him fired now, figures.

might because he's a FCC posterboy against things like this, too.

If he is an advocate of the FCC, then he needs to bend over and take the fine from the FCC like a man.
Maybe it will change his tune.

They could still tag him if it was rebroadcasted over a fox station.
I don't really watch that much tv, but i do see some broadcast fox stations using these type shows in competing news slots.

This seems as good a place as any...

What are the general thoughts on the etymology of the word "fuck"?

I contend that it is a throwback to prima nocta or first night, that held a nobleman had the right to first sexual relations with any commoner's newly wedded wife.

FUCK = Fornication Under Consent of King

Thus the horrible connotation.

I think many of the curse words we have now was used in commonplace with the commonpeople many many years ago, middle ages i guess? I dono.

It's my understanding that you could get away with this in "old testament times" by using an alternate name, such as "Adonai". (The english translations don't usually do the original texts much justice, IMHO.) But, I may be mistaken.

My general thought is that you are exactly correct. :) I quit considering it a true "swear word" when I found out about this fact.

There used to be a spark of activism left on these forums. Thanks for reminding me that's now dead.

Joe was an ass during the camapign but he seems to be rethinking some of his stances. I like watching him and I think it's funny as hell he said fuck. I cannot believe anyone who is truly liberty minded would actively seek his removal over saying fuck.
