If I were a state legislature, I would propose a constitutional amendment requiring all laws to have a twenty year time limit or expiration. Each law would have to be renewed or repealed once the limit is up. This would eventually swamp the legislature with renewals and reassessments of laws already on the books.

If this is not possible perhaps we could require the legislature to set aside a certain amount of time in order to repeal or reassess the legitimacy or necessity of old laws.

What are your thoughts on these suggestions? ;)

if we can significantly reduce the amount of laws on the books we dont already need, that would be a first concern.

why the hell do i need a permit to make modifications to my home?

or a law banning rubber testicles on the back of motor vehicles?

or a law banning sagging pants?

stupid stuff like that.

How about 6 month time limits. That'll make 'em think twice about passing legislation :p
