Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.

Get em now, cause you may not get a second chance....

The Assault Weapons Ban was in effect when Clinton signed it into law in 1994 until Bush let it expire in 2004, yet Americans put up with it.

Yup, that they did and in NOLA, after Katrina, as well.

Nobody will do shit except blow off steam.

Now, if it came down to a ban on existing weapons, with house to house confiscations, (Mr. and Mrs. America, turn 'em all in - Sarah Brady) which some in the transition team have been calling for, then you would see trouble.

That's line number 2 in the sand for me.

Actually,Congress let it expire. Bush said he'd reinstate it if Congress wanted to. And somehow, he got the NRA's endorsement that year.

Going to be an awful two years. Obama and the heavily-democrat congress are going to have no respect for any American citizens' rights.
