Mary Ruwart was a much better candidate than Bob Barf, period.

She had a much better message (what was Barr's message again? elect Bob Barr because)

And she could have reeled in a lot of leftists and liberals because of her style. They would have realized that the LP is more than just watered down disgruntled Republicans.

Ruwart would be the type that could bring in liberals and conservatives and get them to realize that they see eye to eye on a lot of things, especially civil liberties and peace.

Bob Barf did the opposite of what he said he would do and I tend to believe it was intentional.

Those articles are way off. Here's what really happened!

Bob Barr Campaign Official: Ron Paul is to Blame!!!!

Cory claims:
"Ron Paul is to Blame for not receiving $30 Million"
Also alleges: "Paul set the liberty movement back a decade by encouraging people to stay in the GOP," Cory says

Quote from the article:
As the campaign wound to a close, it was clear that Barr wouldn't get close to the $30 million fundraising goal campaign manager Russ Verney set in May, a disappointment that staffers blame in part on former Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas). "Paul set the liberty movement back a decade by encouraging people to stay in the GOP," Cory says. "Not that the Republicans planned it, but if they did they couldn't have planned it any better."

Thus, Bob Barr for the next President when Ron Paul is no longer screwing everything up!

I don't know how good mary ruwart would have been. As soon as she started gaining steam, somebody would pull out the cp stuff from long ago. Not to say I agree with what they say, just saying it would happen.

Plus, many conservative voters would have probably been lost to Baldwin and McCain.

I don't think Ruwart would have gotten tons of funding necessarily either.

I actually liked Barr's platform after the first three months when it was made more sophisticated.

Myself, I think Barr shouldn't have made a deal with WAR. And, Ruwart should have worked to make a deal. Barr/Kubby would have united the LP better, tempered Barr, and brought in more fundraising and aid with ballot access.

Simply put, Barr and Ruwart let WAR play off of the Libertarians and be kingpin. I blame both camps for the problems.

I hate Bob Barr.

I might have voted for him until he dissed Ron Paul.

Right after he dissed Ron Paul, I just went Ralph Nader. I was going to write in Ron Paul but it didn't count. I said Nader would be the best protest vote because it would take away votes from all three: McCain, Obama, and Barr.
