"Manhattan U.S. Attorney Michael Garcia said that investigators found no evidence that Spitzer or his office misused public or campaign funds for prostitution. Federal prosecutors typically do not prosecute clients of prostitution rings. "

And yet Spitzer was put through public shaming why?

Hmmm....

Gee, could it be because he was totally on track to crack down on Wall Street?

What a dummy head Spitzer is, and what an idiot is Palast is for blaming the Bushies.

This was a foregone conclusion as part of the "deal" -- Spitzer agreed to eat humble pie publicly, AND to step down from the Governorship (and subsequently abandon his political career), and in exchange they would agree to NOT prosecute him (aka "execute" him via impeachment).

He knew his goose was cooked either way. Something tells me he'll end up being compen$ated in other forms in the near future (as long as he remains a good boy and keeps his mouth shut).

My favorite from Palast is the end:

"Not all crimes lead to federal bust or even public exposure. It’s up to something called “prosecutorial discretion.”

Funny thing, this ‘discretion.’ For example, Senator David Vitter, Republican of Louisiana, paid Washington DC prostitutes to put him in diapers (ewww!), yet the Senator was not exposed by the US prosecutors busting the pimp-ring that pampered him.
Naming and shaming and ruining Spitzer – rarely done in these cases - was made at the ‘discretion’ of Bush’s Justice Department.

Or maybe we should say, 'indiscretion.'"

Which makes me think these two articles walk hand in hand!

*Nodding soundly to this analysis*

Do you think You, I or anyone else on this board or even Joe the Plumber, would walk from these charges?

Nope! We'd have jail time and/or fines/probation etc...

This is the disparity of Government is Privledged above all law and have their own VIP program in the U.S. courts... Discrimination of the Crimination Nation!

Total BS!

Yeah but Spitzer should not have been tried at the federal level. The charges were hyped to humiliate him and destroy anything he might have against the banksters.

And of course the owners of the prostitution ring surely were taken for every cent they had and everything they owned. The wonderful Patriot Act in action, folks.
