We had quite a few here in Maryland and they all lost by landslides.

Lawson had a good run especially since he was up against a popular incumbent.

We'll need to learn from the others and see what we can do better next time around.

Dean Santoro was running for a house senate seat, but he lives in a totally blue district in Miami against the incumbent, he also lost badly.

I haven't heard any of our liberty candidates taking national or even state positions.

But on the federal level, I don't believe a single libertarian/conservative won -- less Paul, of course :D

we had a bunch too, BJ was our best, and lost.He lost because he never had a chance in that district. We need to run Ron Paul Republicans in races of which we can win. That means becoming the GOP, and not trying to unseat an entrenched Democrat in an unwinnable district.

Liberty candidates don't win in the United StatesThat's because they dont work within the system and run in races that they have a potential to win. Hopefully the CFL will change that.

Can BJ move to another district?

BJ lost due to mindless straight ticket voters, he had a "R" beside his name. He might as well run with a different party affiliation in 2010.

I went to Ron Paul's PAC website. He has a whole list of candidates that he encouraged us to vote for. Here are the results I found:

Paul Broun won the Georgia 10th Congressional District with 61%
Congressman Walter Jones of the North Carolina 3rd kept his seat with 66%
Congressman Doug Lamborn of the Colorado 5th kept his seat with 60%
Congressman Roscoe Bartlett of the Maryland 6th kept his seat with 58%
Congressman Denny Rehberg of the Montana 1st kept his seat with 65%
Congressman Scott Garrett of the New Jersey 5th kept his seat with 56%
Congressman John Culberson of the Texas 7th kept his seat with 56%
Congresswoman Michelle Bachman of the Minnesota 6th kept her seat with 46%

Congressman Ron Paul of the Texas 14th kept his seat uncontested because nobody was stupid enough to run against him! :)

Also the races for Virgil Goode of Virginia 5th, Tom McClintock of California 4th, and Congressman Bill Sali of Idaho 1st are kinda close to call. Depending on if there are any calls for recount. So we may get some of those too. Probably McClintock.

So, even though things didn't go as well as we had hoped, we don't have to drop into utter despair. As Ron Paul said in his message last night, we've got 2010 to be preparing for. We've got to keep pushing. This fight will not be won without much persistence. We must never stop trying.

Here's the link to the PAC by the way:

Yup, got to fill the bottom of the glass before you can fill the top. We need to get our people in at the precinct level first, then the state level, THEN the federal level. We stand a good chance of having the infrastructure to take the first and second levels by 2010, and can make a strong push in 2012.

That is, if we aren't all rounded up and put into the ObamaNation(co) reeducation camps by then.

I was reluctant to vote for Doug Lamborn because of his pro-war stance, but he did vote against the bailout both times, so he may be salvageable. He has the support, but not the enthusiasm of the Ron Paul Meetup members out here.

Overall though, I was surprised at how much worse the 3rd parties seemed to be doing nationally compared to what I remember from previous elections. The cult of personality Obama has going on is rather startling too. He is a consummate politician.

Is it possible to win if you are surrounded in a BLUE district where people vote DEM regardless?

He'll need to move to a Republican district then, or at the very least a district that leans Democratic...not the heavily Democratic district he chose to run in

A host of candidates from Ron Paul's Liberty PAC won re-election. Also, every single member of the Liberty Committee was re-elected.

Plus, it looks like we added McClintock.

In a year that the Republican brand was worth dirt---we rocked.

Not unless you have a massive budget greater than your opponent, or unless you have some damnable evidence against them.
