Don't be depressed. Get energized instead and try to make a difference. And when you get tired, try not to think about the election. Relax. Enjoy your life as much as you can. Then get back to work again...

i think we will have better luck in 2 years getting some of our house representatives into office. A lot of people are going to polls to vote for obama and mccain and most likely wont be going in a couple years. This is when we need to make some noise. the ignorant voters will stay home then.

Our efforts fail for the same reason that the attempt to kill Hitler and broker a cease fire for Germany failed.

All that wickedness in that land would have gone un-punished.

The American people will reap what they have sown, but it is up to us to keep each other alive and not be devoured by the fate that Americanus Idiotus surely deserves.

:mad:I haven't watched anything. Fuck obama, fuck him! I'm so angered by the whole thing I refuse to watch the tv, or the news online or anything else. I am angered but moreso at the media. The media is so much a part of this and this is the part that NOBODY on this damn forum will talk about fighting! Yeah, I'm pissed off, HELLA PISSED! But How do you fight the media? How do you get them to report TRUTHFULLY and without slanting the news? How do you get magazines and newspapers to stop propping up who they think needs to be in office? THAT is what should be discussed on here if anything at all is going to change.

Ditto! I'm shocked though. I haven't cared for months and all of a sudden with a Dem in the white house and a Dem house and senate...I'm freaking out a little. Not feeling like crying, but I do know a piece of me died today.

Why?

They are both puppets of the same people. It matters not which one of them wins. No one seriously expected Chuck Baldwin or Barr to get much of the vote. They had almost no advertising and no free TV time. There is nothing to be depressed about here. The revolution is only merely beginning, this is not the time to quit.

I'm with you. I've had such a bad week!

Right now I'm watching Russia Today, and someone just said that a black president for America is like the American Dream come true. Not sure if that was sarcastic or not. I'm so sick. I have a brother who's being brainwashed into more drugs by his psychiatrist, another who hates me for voting Baldwin instead of McCain (he claims that it's a wasted vote), a mom who's just as steamed over our biased election process, media, etc. as I am; and a puppy who has to go to the vet tomorrow because we found a hole in his chest. Go figure, it looks like a puncture wound, but he's not crying, limping, or bleeding.

There, I just needed to get that out. I'm about to puke...again. I'd like to beat the crap out of someone or something, but that would probably land me in jail. The adrenaline is raging!

Conservatives across the nation got their asses kicked in a major way. Oh well.

I voted Barr for president, LP candidate for Congress and then Republican for all local government. I reason that it's okay to vote Republican in local government because they can't get us into any wars and overall they're waaay better on spending than Democrats.

Man....Obama with a majority Democrat senate and congress...yikes.

Did any of the 'liberty candidates' win? I want to hear some good news.

The Republicans are already setting up a meeting in two days to discuss the direction of the party. Tonight's defeat will hopefully put them on the right path.

If they come from that meeting with a message of stay the course, then they will die like all the other parties that died before them.

I feel happy to see the first black president even though I don't agree with him or his party.

He is young however and made an effort after mentioning Lincoln and the Republican platform as American to reach out to conservatives saying something along the lines of:
I may not have won your vote tonight, but I need your help because I want to be your president too.

I feel anger, happiness, depression, hope, pride, and insanity. I believe we made a huge dent in this campaign season and in 2012 we will be felt again, and in 2016 - knock on wood. Anyone who voted for the one they TRULY thought should win, based on fact and research, will have their conscience clear come what may.

We have failed, but in doing so, we are going to keep gathering steam for our return to the ways of the constitution and the ageless philosophers.

I've followed politics since I was 11 years old (1984). This is the first time I haven't really cared about the presidential race. I remember 1992 and this year is a lot like that year. I was really upset then but two years later everything was different. It's funny, the more time goes by, and the more I learn about politics the more apathetic I get. I thought it was supposed to be the other way around.

All this handwringing for what? Not you, j, but the tenor of this thread. I agree here with j. It took upward of 40 years to get a black president. It's fuckin' awesome! Yeah, I don't agree with him much either but it took blacks 40 years to get him. And it wasn't just blacks that voted him in. This was the will of the people moving on the face of the earth in a mass rejection of Bush and the neo=cons. Think of it like this. did you like Nixon? Well this is Bobby Kennedy beating Nixon. It took my generation 40 years to accomplish this an you fucks want to go desparage this achievement? You don't know shit.

You think it's the same ol same ol. Wrong. This is reason defeats warmongering. Baby steps. How do we move away from totalitarianism? Again baby steps. Instead of wallowing, get a plan. Get a party! It sure ain't the discredited GOP. That is dead. Stick a knife in it! Obama is going to be awesome. But you don't have to believe me. I'm not trying to change your mind. I'm saying YOU need to become mainstream, because until then you are just a weenie Trekker. A Matrix-dwelling SciFi Channel dweeb that believes in every conspiracy theory and kicking your beautiful but normal girlfriend out of bed because she didn't vote the way you told her (see that other thread, OMG).

Grow up, first. Get back to us when you can keep your opinion to yourself, and can actually contribute to society without opening your dumbass mouth for a day. And I mean this in the nicest possible way.

\\

(And this is not meant for jcarcinogen)

Oh, yeah, if you want to employ words? Edumacate some peoples on what Lincoln really was: a totalitarian tyrant. Don't do it in a racist way though. But learn to artfully show that he was not a great "emancipator". And (like Obama so unfortunately claims) was for individual freedom. Yikes! I mean, I like Barry but ... yikes!

Well only time will tell. I'm a libertarian so of course I don't like his policy but he is a smart guy (Constitutional law expert) and potentially intellectual and patriotic enough to, like JFK, try to be a president for the people. Sure he had to play the game to get elected but who knows, the guy was humble enough to ask for help on being a fair president to the people that didn't vote for him.

My fear is now that Pelosi and Clinton rule both Houses so overwhelmingly that Obama may have to be the guy that takes the middle road. Ironic. Doesn't matter, they create the laws, budgets, and can now override a veto.

Patriot Act

Feingold conceded that public disappointment following gains for Democrats in the 2006 elections was understandable, but said that a Democratic president, "in particular, Barack Obama, should allow us to greatly change this mistake."

"Barack Obama believes in the Constitution," he continued. "He's a constitutional scholar. I believe that he will have a better chance to look at these powers that have been given to the executive branch, [even though] he'll be running the executive branch.

I think he will understand and help take the lead in fixing some of the worst provisions."

"I do think that people have a right to be disappointed," he went on, "but they also have a right to hope for change--on this issue, in particular--starting in January."

Obama vows to reverse executive orders that 'trample on liberty'

WASHINGTON - Barack Obama told House Democrats on Tuesday that as president he would order his attorney general to scour White House executive orders and expunge any that "trample on liberty," several lawmakers said.

Presidents, as head of the executive branch of government, issue such orders to direct operations of executive branch agencies, like the Justice Department and the CIA. For example, President Bush used an executive order last year to breathe new life into the CIA's controversial terror interrogation program that allowed harsh questioning of suspects.

Obama "talked about how his attorney general is to review every executive order and immediately eliminate those that trample on liberty," said Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y.

"He indicated there would be a review in his administration," said Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., the House majority whip.
