OK, so I've seen many on this board slam the notion of voting for Obama because of the wars he'll wage while ignoring that trait in McCain.

Wuttup with that?

McCain is a straight-up imperialist.

Who cares? That's like debating which is the better Pokemon: Mudkip or Torchic. They're both unfit to be President.

(Torchic is better, BTW)

Obama = McCain

McCain = Obama

The only difference in see in the two regarding their war strategy is whether they will have "preconditions" (whatever the hell they are, no one ever seems to tell us what those would be) before consulting with other nations, and the amount and location of troops in a number of different countries.

You shouldn't even have to point it out in McCain, as he's never been one to try and hide his bloodthirsty tendencies. Obama is the wolf in sheep's clothing, becaues he makes himself out to be the peace candidate when a closer scrutiny of his voting record shows him to be a hypocrite.

I don't know why people here of all places still try to find differences between McCain and Obama. That's like bickering over what the color purple really looks like while your house is on fire, which just happens to be exactly what Obama and McCain are doing...

Because everyone knows and expects McCain to start wars but many people are under the impression Obama is anti war and therefor deserves our vote. Both are for wars.
It's education. You don't try and teach someone something they already know only what they don't know.

Fire Pokemon are typically better anyway. ;)

It's always great to find someone who shares a sense of nerdiness. I've found myself using Avatar: The Last Airbender as a metaphore for national sovereignty and foreign policy. Some of the youth on Distant Horizon forums are still talking about Obama, though. :(

Still, nice to see American animation championing free trade, national sovereignty, non-intervention foreign policy, etc. It's just a shame most of it goes over the target audience's heads.

There are differences between the candidates -- not as many as there should be, given the (hypothetical) philosophical differences between the two, ahem, parties.

One of those differences is that McCain doesn't give a rat's behind about diplomacy and he believes the world is ours to do with as we please. Obama does seem to promote diplomacy first and a focusing of our military objectives on, well, military objectives.

Am I misunderstanding something?

I think Obama's foreign policy is far more appealing than McCain's -- certainly from a military standpoint.

My problems with Obama lie in the whole socialism sector.
