I love it- Peter Schiff just told them how both parties have buried capitalism like in the 1930's with the new deal- and we can't even afford the old one let alone a new new deal, declares mandate of mob rule and tells them why Ron Paul was the only candidate speaking truth and how the founding fathers had it right with a REPUBLIC.

WOO! Dunno if anyone caught it on youtube but it left the panelists in awe.

He links to his videos here: http://www.europac.net/video.asp
But I don't think he gets them up there very quickly.

And Phil DeCarolis always uploads Schiffs appearances to YouTube, but sometimes it's a few days later: http://www.youtube.com/user/PhilDeCarolis

I wish Schiff would have come back with something like:

"Then why do all the central banks of the world hold it?"

OR

"Tell that to a billion Chinese, a billion Indians, and a billion Muslims who hold gold as a store of value and have for centuries."

Peter Schiff missed one point. If the voters were INFORMED, then they could actually make decent decisions when they vote. For example, look at that Ron Paul R3volution thing everybody was talking about during the primaries.

He was trying to say that. He said (paraphrased) look at how many supporters Ron Paul got... <jackass replied "but he got less than 1% of the votes">... but if the people were informed then they might [support better policies].

The guy kept saying he disagrees with Peter but couldn't articulate why, and the woman saying "gold has no value" just shows that she is there for one thing: her looks.

Yes, but precious metals have intrinsic value in that they have many uses. http://www.24hgold.com/news-gold-silver-The-many-uses-of-Gold.aspx?langue=en&articleid=308635_Geology_com_Gold_&contributor=Gold&lastpublishingyear=

I disagree. The exact value of gold at any given time is subjective. Gold itself has intrinsic value. It always has. If you go to the 4 corners of the earth now, or at practically any time in human history, you will find gold holding value in some form.

Ill use the Egyptians as an example. Gold was somewhat plentiful so its value as money was limited, but they did bury their highest pharoahs in gold sarcophagus'. Value isn't always monetary.

Yeah , the funniest part about the end was that the hosts had NO SUBSTANCE in their statements- it was all "we have fun talkin' to you"

as opposed to anything intelligent- and I'm pretty sure anybody intelligent probably caught that as well. CNBC's producers were probably thinking this is why they had him on- to educate.

I have become slightly weary of him. He NEVER actually attacks fractional reserve banking. And when it comes to the FED his criticisms always lie in they had artificially low interest rates etc.. which is all great, but he criticizes them for bad management; not for existing in the first place.

Sometimes when you deal with unreasonable people you have to slightly water down your actual viewpoints in order to not scare them away. Thats not to say you actually change your viewpoints, you just ease them into it.

I agree. You don't have to abandon your principles to mold your delivery to your audience.

Even Ron Paul learned this the hard way. I love his courage but sometimes you have to tone it down and bring people along slowly instead of bashing them over the head with truth that they aren't ready to hear.

When people realize that everything they've known and believed in is wrong and the system they've been defending has lied to them, they become defensive.

It happens over and over to people I've tried to convert. Unfortunately, when I first started I didn't have the patience to give them a "taster menu" of truth. Instead I clubbed them with a truth hammer and they stopped listening. :D

There may be a better way and I think our liberty candidates need to realize this.

Your thoughts?

At present the market is obviously flawed in one direction. It will correct eventually. Schiff knows this and he can and does make money off of the obvious problem.

In a free market it would be much more difficult to forecast.

Also, by saying that he would make more money under an Obama presidency, it gives his moral opposition more credibility.

I would go for this. Whenever I watch his interviews I am struck by how articulate he is, often overshadowing the talking heads and taking the lead in the conversation. He is also good-looking, which scores points no matter how articulate you are. Just look at Romney and Palin for evidence of that. He'd make an excellent politician but would likely need a tenure in Congress before running for President.
