"If you wore a seatbelt on your way here, you may owe that to Ralph Nader." Hehe. :D

Barr: "Unlike Senator McCain, I was not here at the very first meeting of the club." ;)

Digg 'em all. See what sticks. :D

Nader is the reason we have a seatbelt law? What a bastard! I'm never voting for him or that protectionist Baldwin!

Not the law itself, but the fact that cars come equipped with them.

And before anyone cries socialist, putting pressure on companies to conform to safe practices is a legitimate exercise of consumer power.

Seatbelt laws... apparently they are a very important issue in this election for you.

Nader has a huge philosophical difference from our movement, but he is an ally, and a huge one at that. i wish people would stop bashing him, he needs to be constructively criticized, not bashed.

Voting for any of these 3 candidates is what you must do. I take it your voting for barr?

I was probably more impressed by him than the other 2 tonight, and i hate barr for what he did to ron paul.

Bob Barr made a very good point on Foreign Policy around 51:20 or so, he states that to fight terrorism you must be "Smart and Focused", and not spread out amongst several nations exposing our troops to danger.

I thought this was a brilliant point, from a man who knows how the CIA operates. the CIA could've taken out Saddam Hussein with no problems whatsoever... the invasion of Iraq was due to other motives.

911, WMD's and Saddam have all been declared the reason for the invasion of Iraq at some point, and each of them have been debunked.

"Smart and Focused" is definitely how you take out terrorists. Special ops teams, and CIA Agents could've handled Saddam without problems. Bin laden I'm not so sure, but Hussein would've been a cinch for the CIA to assassinate.

I watched this on c-span early this morning, and all that really came out of is that I'm glad I didn't start supporting Baldwin when Ron Paul endorsed him. His "traditional marriage, traditional family" rhetoric did not impress me at all, and I've tried to ignore it on these boards before but he really is a protectionist. After watching this debate, I've come to the conclusion that Bob Barr is the only true liberty candidate in the running.

Barr really blew it out of the water. While Baldwin was ranting on about protectionism, Barr was proudly professing the libertarian ideals this movement was founded on.

Also, his experience was finally brought to the forefront. While Baldwin was talking about his days working on an assembly line, Barr spoke of testifying against Bush, his impeachment proceedings against Clinton, and his fight to put sunset provisions and civil liberties into the Patriot Act.

Nader didn't do too bad except near the end when he started ranting about universal healthcare and about not letting people opt-out of Social Security. Anyone else notice he mentioned "communal lifestyles" a few times?

Barr is a career politician, Baldwin isn't.

Yeah he's a socialist, a well intentioned socialist but still a socialist. Basically he's only good for influencing all the stubborn big government supporters (who refuse to see governments flaws) to oppose the Fed, the over sea empires etc.

"legitimate exercise of consumer power"? sounds like socialist talk to me. :D

Barr is a career politician, Baldwin isn't.

Barr's spent his entire life leaching off honest, hard working citizens, and making this country less free. First as a CIA operative and then as a drug war prosecutor for the Justice Department. No thanks.

He was an analyst at the CIA.

You act like he's the same guy he was six years ago.
