Joe said Fred T had only TWO HUNDRED show up for his first campaign event, held in Des Moines. Talked about it again just now, Joe said it was 'underwhelming.' lol...

The thing that caught my ear, though, was that Joe said Fred had another batch of his paid staff QUIT yesterday.

Anyone heard about this?

They quit on his FIRST OFFICIAL DAY?

How ...

Hilarious. I can't wait to see the alexa graphs and stuff. I'm sure they will not be kind. Fred lost the race in July, the 4th was his day and he blew it.

Joe just said that Reagan was treated by the media as an absolute buffoon right up until he was elected.

I don't recall - was he?

Wow, that would be awesome if true.

But you shouldn't tease us like that without proof. :) Anybody got a YouTube link?

Oh yeah, back then, the media was ALL liberal .......... there was no Fox news back then and they always sided with the democrats. They said Reagan had no chance in hell of winning and constantly made fun of him.

I always get along with liberals more than conservatives for some reason...unless we're discussing economic policy lol

Yes, the media thought Reagan was an idiot because he was an actor. With Bush, you can't deny it lol. A true free market would truly enable the poor. Gives you an incentive to go out and do something.

I don't like the selfishness of many conservatives though. A true free market is not about greed, it's about allowing people to get involved, it does not mean you have to be an arrogant or an overly cynical asshole! It's not about laziness, it's about incentive, it's about the lack of opportunities. People are not getting a fair shake. Does that mean I believe in entitlements? No. It means I believe in freeing up on the economy, so that they can breath.

It's not the people's fault that the system sucks.

I generaly get along with conservatives more............... well, up until about 8 yrs ago that is. LOL

I used to listen to Rush Limbaugh for f--ks sake! He used to say so many true things about the liberals and I cheered him on....................... but then, the republicans got in office and did the same crap he railed against, yet he still backed them. That was my wakeup call and I havent been the same since. Pretty much woke me up to the scam that is the two party system.

ha. The funny part is that I'm an ex-socialist libertarian LOL I just prefer the bashing of neo cons than I do of liberals, I guess because maybe I'm from a blue state lol. They hate me on economic issues, but that's ok. I know that a true free market is the best for everyone, especially the poor. I rather start poor in a true free market than start middle class in this system!

Though.. without the freedom to do what you want to do, a free market would be bland. So what we need is maximum social freedoms and maximum economic freedoms. America has a system of states, so libertarianism would work a little differently here. I don't believe that we'll ever see a true free market, so I have to stop day dreaming and I have to try to strive in this elitist system lol

fantasies can truly immobilize :D

Some of the most liberal people are the most selfish and arrogant that I've ever met in my life.

The epitome of selfishness is refusing to spend your own money for causes you claim to believe in, preferring instead to take money from others via taxes and using the gov't to spend that money, stolen from others, to fund your pet projects. You just don't get any more selfish and arrogant than that.

(tips hat to Donald J. Boudreaux :) )

Also, it wasn't a bunch of staffers that quit FT, it was one guy. Here's a link to a WP piece on it:

I was the same. I completely stopped listening to Limbaugh after 2000. Bush had a lot of liberal tendencies on open borders, insane sending, you name it.

I distinctly remember Rush saying on a few occasions, "Trust me on this folks, I know George W. Bush and he would (or would not) blah blah blah. History has demonstrated that I can't trust anything out of Limbaugh's mouth.

The way Limbaugh talked in the 90s you'd think he'd worship Dr. Paul, but now the only conservative/"christian" issue that matter now is Pre-emptive war and open borders. It's sad.

Sorry about the hijack:)

my biggest problem with liberals in the past, is that they always seemed to want to pass laws that gave the "appearance" that they cared about the little guy, but in fact did the opposite. ie gun control, welfare, hate crimes.....etc. Seems the reality is the neo-conservatives are no different. Im just glad Ron Paul came along and finally gives us a candidate that has a chance in hell. I voted for Badnarik in 2004 and in my county of 30,000 voters, he only got 234 votes:( . That told me the libertarian party had a long long way to go before we get there. I see Ron Paul as an excellent vehicle for the message.

Don't count Fred out. A lot of Republicans think he is the great white hope. I'm also getting a bit concerned about Huckabee, because he would be appealing to the religious right. He is being pushed right now by the MSM. His performance at the debate was scripted to a T. So has been his stealing of Ron's platform in the last debate. No, I'm not concerned about him winning the overall election. Just the nomination. If we can win the Republican nomination, we WILL win the general elections.

Rush was fun to listen to when Clinton was in office, but he doesn't hold Bush to the same standards that he held Clinton to. Listening to him cheerlead for Bush is just painful.

oh yeah? I haven't met any of these types. I don't know any rich liberals ;) I bet Oprah is stingy. I'm referring to the conservatives that are blaming people for not succeeding, they just don't understand that maybe they are trying but they're unable to get ahead? Maybe they can't afford college? In a true free market there would be many more apprenticeships, many more schools, schools would offer payment programs, you'd also have charitable organizations. Things are.... different in this system. You CAN get to college, but what is...'college'? Why are we expected to build up our qualifications, so that we can beg a corporation to hire us? Why can't the economy be more free and flexible? Why can't there be many routes that people can go? If you can't afford a college, does that mean you're incapable of filling a job? You're incapable of learning how to do something without a specific degree?
