Amends the federal criminal code to reinstate, for 10 years, the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act's assault weapons ban to prohibit the manufacture, transfer, or possession of a semiautomatic assault weapon or a large capacity ammunition feeding device. Specifies models and features of banned weapons.

That's a tough issue to crack. Most people are ok with people owning rifles/shotguns, and possibly handguns for defense. But, once you call it an "assault rifle", you start losing support for your position fast...

There are plenty of good arguments both for and against assault rifles, but it's definitely wedge issue, and it's a generally losing argument for gun-rights supporters.

What argument is good for the banning of assault rifles?

Tell others that they can't own something because they MIGHT shoot someone with it? Not getting that type of thinking at all.

Better ban fast cars as well because they will kill people faster than slow cars.

I'm pretty sure the new ban will have the same old grandfather clause as the last one, so it will do more to make the left think they are accomplishing something than actually taking our guns away.
And yes, McCain would sign it too in a heartbeat.

I was at a Gun Show today, no F'n-Way. People were rabid, spending fiat dollars like they owned bail-out banks or were printing notes at home.

People will not stand for it. America is Arming now. I met at least 50 first time gun buyers today and we expect double that tomorrow.
