I just stumbled across this video, it seems to suggest that at least some of the booing was due to Rudy being put on the big screen.

Wishful thinking? you decide.

Whoa.
This seems to explain some of the boos.
I guess Americans aren't as stupid as I thought, booing at Ron Paul he listens to the Constitution.

Ah...that makes more sense. I thought it was weird that people would boo so vehemently after applauding so strongly just seconds earlier.

That would be a little disconcerting, I hope Paul gets told about how Ghouliani's image was being placed up on the monitors while he was speaking. I don't recall Fox going split screen for other candidates in that debate, does any one recall?

Digg this one.

It has a more catchy title and description IMHO.

EDIT: And don't forget to spread it around! Turn a shaky RP debate moment into a win. (...Well, shaky if you arent into the issues, but more of a "follow the crowd" person)

After seeing this thread I have compiled all of of this contributor's RP videos from YouTube for the debate. You will see the REAL crowd reaction here. There was NO BOOING until Rudy popped up on the split screen. REPOST THIS! I will start a new thread too. (btw notice that the other candidates are ALL watching RP and taking notes and there is no video of who was laughing...bummer)

Wow, what bull. They put Rudy's face up split screen on the monitor, and QUICKLY remove it, as to give off the impression that Ron Paul is receiving the boo's, and not Rudy.

Stay Classy, Faux News

i'd say that was perfect audience manipulation...

everyone played right in to the sports event vibe and got the

bunnies v. wolves syndrome (http://youtube.com/watch?v=2CvNTz5xidk), made a booing sound and railroaded
rep. paul's words...

but that's ok 'cuz it backfired. all their crappy attitude and practical
blacklisting of the good dr. has lead people to expect 'rally squad'
behavior from the mitt-witts and fox news regulars.

blowback.

Nice write up on the Luntz Magical Political Opinion Detecting Machine.

I hope Media matters gets a look at the split screen video clip that sparked the audience reaction. TV viewers were left with the impression that Paul was being booed...inexplicably, like wtf?

Thats amazing that they know their boogeyman candidate will get booed...

well, it also seems to me that they had a group of people there specifically to cheer for Rudy et al. - either that, or the turned the microphones up when that group cheered - watching from home the cheers only got louder for Rudy, to Romney, to McCain. And they were cheering at really illogical times as well. Perhaps they were just there for the decibal cheer readings "proving" Huckabee had a better response. That was so much BS... i would have been laughing off of my seat if it wasn't so sad.

So we have the following:
1) RP on stage left, next to the "nobodies"
2) RP skipped over for relevant questions and again singled out on his foreign policy stuff pinning him as a single-issue candidate
3) People cheering on cue for Rudy et al
4) Ron's mic turned off while other people talk, but not the other way around
5) Photos of Rudy shown at specific times to elicit boos
6) An effort to provoke RP into throwing a fit and losing his cool (ala Mike Gravel sydrome)
7) Laughing, sneering, belitting, disrespectful treatment of RP by moderators
8) Bad camera angles for RP - show him fiddling with his hands and hard lighting
9) Asking RP loaded questions hoping to trip him up or make him backtrack

Too bad for them Ron kicked their asses ;) Am i missing anything??

It does look like they were booing Rudy, but that makes those people very stupid. Ron was talking. Never, ever to boo when Ron is speaking.

I agree that's a policy one must consider. Normally applause is supposed to be a responsive and spontaneous activity versus a premeditated one. The Ron Paul supporters were acting honestly.

I see why the MSM Politicians like canned audiences and scripted statements. No wonder they like actors.

The Ron Paul supporters handed them this one. They're the ones who were booing.

I doubt Fox was clever enough to plan something that sophisticated.

115 diggs, but the story has been buried...

Can someone make a new Digg story about it with a catchy title and post it in a new thread called "If you like RP you MUST make this story go viral"?
