I just learned that my wife and I can contribute more (than our $4600 limit) to the Ron Paul election campaign effort by virtue of the guidelines set by FEC Independent Expenditures (http://www.fec.gov/pages/brochures/indexp.shtml). This is great news -- especially for those persons who are financially able and willing to help even more towards putting Ron Paul in the White House in 2008.

Here's the catch:

After an individual donates his/her maximum allowable limit to Mr. Paul's campaign, he/she may also spend money independently for paid advertisements promoting Paul for President -- so long as those promotional efforts are not coordinated in any way, form, or fashion with Paul campaign headquarters, and as long as the person files a simple report (http://www.fec.gov/pdf/forms/fecfrm5.pdf) for money spent promoting their candidate.

I've already updated our site's legal disclaimer (http://www.searchronpaul.com/about.php) to this effect.

Thanks for maxing out! I'm working on it, more than halfway there.

The campaign contribution maximums apply to the primary campaign and the general election campaign. In short, you and your wife can both give $2300 to both efforts. I'm not sure if the campaign has set up the other fund yet or not.

They ought to set up a general election fund to show seriousness about intent to win.
