What is teamspeak?
Simply, Teamspeak is a Voice Chat program used to communicate with multiple over the internet. I have five years experience administrating a teamspeak server so I know the inns and outs of the program.

What do you need?
All you need is a microphone, speakers and the Teamspeak Client

Where do I download Teamspeak?
Download Teamspeak at http://goteamspeak.com/?page=downloads (Top one for PC Bottom one for MAC)

What is the Teamspeak IP and Password?
Teamspeak IP: 72.232.167.123:1289
Password: ronpaulforums

How to connect to a server:

Using the client's addressbook:

* Open the menu "Connection" and press "Connect".

* Your local addressbook is still empty but we are going to add a server here.

Press your right mouse button in the white left section and click on "Add server". You can name the server anything you like. After that, the "Label" shows your previous chosen name.

* Now fill in the server address in the specified field, this may either be an IP address or a FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name). The port of the server usually doesn't need to be filled in. However if the server host is running multiple servers you can specify the port where it needs to connect to behind the server address (i.e. voice.teamspeak.org:8767).

* After that you can choose a nick in "Nickname". You are obligated to fill one in unless you checked the "Allow server to assign nickname" box in which case you will get a name like "Guest1".

* If the server is password protected you need to fill the appropriate one in at the "Password" field. If you are bugged by time-outs (unwanted disconnects from the server) check the "Auto-reconnect" box.

* If you have registered with the server before you can optionally fill in your username and password. Do not fill in anything if you haven't registered with the server before! Remember to check "Registered" and fill in some nickname!

* You may even fill in your favorite channel or sub-channel you wish to connect to.

* After that hit the "Connect" button at the bottom. If all went well you are now connected to the server. You should see your name with a green light next to it.

After you Connect you will need to be registered onto teamspeak.
Note: Teamspeak and Ron Paul Forums are not integrated. So everyone needs to register their first time on Teampeak.

How to Register on Windows:

After being allowed to register by a Registered Player, Channel Admin, or Server Admin

*Go to "Self" and Down to "Register with Server"

*Put in the information requested in the Register with Server window.

*Hit"Register"

*Reconnect Using the Registered Bubble

*Put in the information you used to register

*Reconnect and you are finished.

How to Register on a Mac thanks to Give.Me.Liberty:

After being allowed to register by a Registered Member, Channel Admin, or Server Admin

*Highlight your screename.

*Go to 'Server > Register Player with Server'

*Pick your username and password.

*Disconnect

*Connect again, this time, hitting the 'Registered' bubble.

*Put in your information.

*You're good :)

We used this back when we played ShadowBane.
Need to look into a secure type of teamspeak.

Gotta run and do a few things, might join up later if i can find my headset.

It's like arguing the differences between Romney and Huckabee. Small differences, same function.

Nirvikalpa

Mac users need to use a different program known as 'TeamSpeex,' which is not affiliated with TeamSpeak, which does not have a stable Mac OSX version. Because of this, we Mac users can not register, and we can not message everyone in the chat - only a single person at a time. We can still talk to the group as a whole, though, without registering (as far as I know, I did not talk). We COULD register if the IP was linked to ronpaulforums (connecting using our actual SN and PW here), otherwise, I don't see it possible.

I have a built-in mic, just don't want to talk - sorry for lying :P

Someone correct me if I am wrong with this (which I hope I am).

Untrue. It's like arguing Paul vs McCain. One is far superior to the other.

Guess I haven't done my research. :o

I've used them both but really don't notice a different. You bush a button and talk.

Nope. Right click while holding the ...... oh crap, now I forgot what button it is. But it's a button. I don't think it's the apple, I am pretty sure it is control.

Only thing is, you can only message members, not the room as a whole :(

And you can not register from the Mac client at all, as it's a unsupported 3rd party client :(

I'll have to admit at first I thought it was a little lame. (never used a voice chat before) But I went ahead and downloaded anyway and listened in (don't have a mic)...also to see if my slow connection could handle it, and it did surprisingly.

And I think this has some good potential. Too bad the debates are over. imagine playing a drinking game like we did in the chat room.... I might even have to get a mic :)

My email sent to CFL inquiring about having a representative speak at Teamspeak..

Thanks for the reply. I and several others have many questions and suggestions, I was thinking at first of calling and talking about them but I don't have long distance.

Which gave me a better idea. At ronpaulforums.com, some of our members are beginning to download and use the software Teamspeak. Tonight in the chat I suggested having a representative from CFL come in to answer some of our questions and take suggestions. We thought ahead of the possibility of high numbers coming to the chat and being rude, talking all at one, etc. But a fellow Paul'er informed us he was familiar with the software and showed us that this problem can be taken care of with the "granting voice rights" feature to those of us who want to ask a question.

We believe this would be a crucial first step to bolstering this movement to the levels we need to be at to meet the situation we're in. Thanks for reading and please do consider.

Thanks

-Nate

Makes me think of the people interviewing Ron Paul and commenting about how many positive e-mails they'd receive for having him on the show. :)

But that would be a good idea.

How many people can be in the TeamSpeak "room" at the same time?

Ventrilo > Teamspeak.

Its much more streamlined, less bloatware and uses close to no resources. cost less to host, way superior IMO
