I've seen countless political ads in the last year and a half, and this is the first one I've seen in a long time that actually made me laugh. It's put out by the DSCC, but you have to wonder if it was written by Al Franken. I don't think there have been any funny ads put out by the Franken campaign, because I think he's trying to say, "I'm more than just a comedian." I don't like Franken (at least not as a politician), I just thought this was a well done ad.

By the way, Dean Barkley, who is running Independent against Coleman and Franken, and was endorsed by Jesse Ventura at the Rally For The Republic, is now polling at 19%. I think that's higher than Ventura was polling at this time of the governor's race when he won, so I think there's a good chance of Barkley winning. Barkley's polling numbers have gone up after each of 2 debates, and there's still 3 debates left. He's no Ron Paul when it comes to knowledge of economics, foreign policy, and other big issues, but he's on the right track and he's miles ahead of Coleman and Franken. As a Ron Paul supporter, I'll be happy to vote for Dean Barkley.

It'd be nice to see an independent win rather than one of the big party guys.

For sure. Barkley is part of the Independence Party of Minnesota. http://www.independenceminnesota.org/

This goes to show that you don't need a big national party to make big changes locally. They have done pretty well against the big 2 in MN. They got Ventura as governor. Tim Penny was very close to beating Pawlenty as governor. I think Penny would have defeated Pawlenty if it wasn't for the whole Wellstone thing. There was a big Wellstone memorial thing close to the governor election, and the Democrats tried to turn the memorial into a Democrat rally asking for people to vote for Moe (the Democrat gov candidate). Minnesotans don't like that kind of crap, and came out in droves to vote for Pawlenty just to punish the Democrats.

But anyway, the majority of people in most states are now independent, so if people start their own local state party, they can probably win some local battles against Republicans and Democrats. Of course, it helps to have a celebrity like Ventura to give it a jump start.

Barkley claimed that he would have voted for the bailout. This pains me. It demonstrates to me that he just doesn't quite get it. We have choices
A). Evil
B). Funny but socialist
C). Doesn't quite get it, but is willing to try.

Nevertheless, I intend to vote for Barkley because he is third party, plus he has the same name as my dog.
