Globalism: Stoking the Twin Fires of Terrorism and Environmentalism

Among other things:

Democrats (or true liberals) for the most part seem to share a dismissal of the war on terror and want to end it. Yet they also share a concern for the global warming 'crisis'.

Republicans (or neoconservatives) for the most part dismiss the problem of global warming and instead see the grievous threat of terrorists and 'ragheads' as the real threat to America.

The way I see it neither the "Global War on Terror" or "Global Warming" is a real threat. The government seems to use each of these arguments as a further excuse to take away our rights and exert a greater contol on the populace.

Let's take a step back.

Terrorism

The gov't claims we need to be concerned about terrorists, extremists, jihadists, etc. That they are coming here to attack us. Yet at the same time they do nothing to secure our borders or inspect our imports coming into our ports. President Bush will tell us we all have to worry about security. Day to day red or orange level alerts to keep us scared that the gov't is doing everything to keep us safe. But when a supposed 'terrorist' country wants to buy our East Coast ports the president tells us we don't need to be concerned with security. 9/11 happens and the frightened populace becomes all too ready to accept unconstitutional legislation like the Patriot Act and warrantless wiretapping of citizens. (This is part of the shock doctrine that Naomi Klein talks about.) Also blatantly illegal executive orders from the president that broaden and define 'enemy combatants' to include anybody the gov't wants to selectively pounce on. We are even given the incredibly false explanation that America needs to install missiles in Poland to protect America from an Iranian missile attack. And few question this? Ive never heard such a more broadfaced lie in my life. We submit; cast our rights aside all in the promise that the gov't will keep us safe, and all the while the government continues to head downwards on the political scale towards totalitarianism, regardless of which party is in power.

But the gov't cannot keep one safe. Ben Franklin said it best, "Those that would trade liberty for security will lose both."
If that doesn't make sense to you, then try reading it again and remember that these words were written before the days that the country was polarized into 2 different political parties twisted from their original intent by corrupt special interest.

Global Warming

It's hard to argue with data that shows a rise in temperature on the Earth's surface over recent years. However this isn't any substitute for what the cause of this rise in temperature is. Similar data has also shown a remarked increase in temperatures on other planets within our own solar system. Some moons that were once covered with ice are now covered with liquid. The same govt will try and impress that "WE" are the cause of this problem. (certainly we contribute with pollution) But instead of a common sense solution of conservation where we cut back on consumption - drive less, turn off the lights, lower the thermostat, and/or convert to cleaner forms of energy we are told that the government needs to come in with programs to save the planet, that we need to institute new regulations, audit peoples' carbon footprint, and begin a carbon tax to finance world government.
With every new regulation in defense of the planet there are more controls, restrictions and rights once again taken from the people.

Why?

Did you know the bailout bill has portions that call for a carbon audit of our tax system? The same page also calls for a redefining of the word "qualifying income" to include trade in carbon credits. Again, I ask, Why?


What does regulating a carbon credit trade have to do with bailing out banks? Answer: Nothing.


But this is the globalist's way to exert control and influence over the people for their own power. Call it fear, call it shock doctrine if you like. I suppose if the shoe fits... We will eventually be told to fear ourselves. We each expel carbon dioxide with each breath we take and to be taxed upon such, is literally taxing us on the air we breathe. All for the sake of saving the planet.

So as we go we become squeezed on both sides.. One side submits our rights and freedoms to keep us safe from the evil terrorists, and the other submits our rights and freedoms to keep us safe from our own humanity. Fear on both sides. Like sheep we get herded into a slaughter pen which when you boil it down is nothing but age old tyranny.

For those who would deride my thinking as archaic or old fashioned I will leave you with one thought: Freedom is a relatively new idea in the world. America is still a young country and the idea of gov't by the people, for the people is still a toddler in the history of man. In comparison, tyranny is the ancient order of the day. It is ever present, looking to usurp the rights and freedoms of We The People for its own gain.
