I moved to the EU a few months ago to live with my girlfriend. Well, that and the fact I could not stomach whatching my country crumble around me.

How do you see the current situation effecting the EU. Obviously this is a global economic meltdown, but I really don't have the fear of martial law or anything like that happening here just yet.

Any thoughts?

Also, what can we do from here to help out the situation there? I don't have the money to make international calls, but I sure as heck can send e-mails.

My advice? Come back the to the US:

http://freestateproject.org/

Ain't no place better or safer, even compared to Europe (except maybe Switzerland).

As for helping, you could join DownsizeDC.org. Their program is based on web and email participation.

so you ran away from America when it needed you and you ran to the NWO template for one world government??

My advice to you, is to get a Chilean girlfriend.

Now that is just rude. I served 8 years in the US Army (including the BS war in Iraq) and I love my country. I am now a disabled combat Vet (complements of OIF). I will live wherever the hell I please, thank you very much. I had planned on moving to the EU sooner to live with the love of my life, but stayed in the US to give all my effort to the Ron Paul Revolution.

Thanks for that. I appreciate it.

But seriously, if you can talk your lady into it, and you have the will to keep trying, come back.

When the world goes into another depression, I'd personally want to stay in the US... at least we have a general tradition of liberty here.

I have been thinking about it, but if the sh*t really hits the fan, it might not be a bad idea to have some true patriots outside of the US.

And as far as somewhere in the US.... I would say Montana or New Hampshire (and the free state project is in New Hampshire). If it gets too bad here in CT, I'll move to NH.

ok how about a decent answer lol. These boards can be brutal sometimes. Not the best place to look for advice.

The dollar is on a rally as of lately, which is making the Euro cheaper. The EU banks are struggling just as hard as we are, and some say it's even worse there.

Despite being in the EU, the countries really are different. Germany has the number 1 economy, and France is super socialist. It just depends on where you are and what you do. As long as there is a demand for what you do, you'll have employment. The hardest hit areas are investment banks, American automakers, construction, and also basic materials like aluminum and copper ( with the surge of the dollar ). That's about the best I can give you with the little info you gave me.

Also the tech sector is doing decent, like apple and google.

Thats for not trying to rip me a new one. God forbid I decide to live my life the way I choose it.

I'm in Spain. Just got a job doing web work. I have noticed a stronger dollar, which helps the disability checks go further, but it is still a long way off from where it was before Bush took office.

One thing I have noticed, is Spain is much less of a police state than the US at this point. I actually feel like there are a lot more freedoms here than in the US at the moment.

Not necessarily the EU but the nations in the EU are fundamentally stronger than the US.

Yeah, the main reason for the stronger dollar is that we're actually pumping in LESS money from the fed then the EU is, they're doing something like 600B euros or something, it's nuts.

In my personal opinion, Spain should fair ok. I think France is the most dangerous since it's so socialist. Spain is more culturally centered, which is good in times like these. Spain doesn't have any major companies that stick out in my head, but they do have a good energy policy which will pay dividends to the country over time, they're well ahead and better prepared for the credit crunch despite the lower oil prices.

Web work is good as long as it's consistent. The tech sector is ( in general ) a really good place to be right now. Just make sure you stay on top of everything ( like making the web site Iphone compatible ) or the times might catch up with you.

yeah the forums can send you on a path to nowhere, i used to feel like I was one of the few voices of reason trying to hold everything together.. i got faith for the Rev but ... if we want to do it in 2012 we gotta fix some things lol

The forums were great back in 2007. We were all working to get RP elected. It makes sense that after the Primaries, the forum would lose a lot of direction. I still find it to be a place where I agree with a lot of opinions, but it just isn't the same.

You talk about where you live and people give you their opinions... and now you're mad? Wow... you really just overreacted

He's living in Spain and he's asking people what they think and the only thing they can tell him is move to north east united states. That's kind of annoying, even for me, and i didn't even ask the question. lol

to the OP I think with your check coming in $$$ and your job in spain you'll be on more stable ground then most for sure

I'm not mad. I don't think some of the comments were appropriate and I made my point about that. I don't feel that it was an over-reaction.

Read my OP, I'm asking what can we do in the EU to be prepared and what can we do to help things on the home front.

I'm not looking to have any judgements cast on me because i choose to live where I do, and I don't need advice as to what country I should find a girlfriend.
