How would you describe the McCain/Palin campaign considering current events, and the seeming mood of the general voting public?

I am NOT voting for either McCain, or Obama. I just want to know how y'all feel.

I must agree. Hate to admit it, but I'd rather he win than McCain...

I think McCain will be getting his ass handed to him. It's unfortunate that Obama is a socialist/communist but he never called Ron Paul an isolationist or implied that we were responsible for WWII.

Ultimately I think they both are equally bad.

Unfortunately McCain/Palin are able to fool many Republicans into thinking they are conservative enough. Sadly there are some on this forum who are falling for it as well.

Yeah, I've noticed some McCain/Palin converts and even some apologists here on the forum. It kinda baffles me that anybody that supported RP, and believes in the principles he promotes, could even remotely support a fuck like McCain. I'd NEVER vote for him, EVER.

I think a lot of the McCain/Palin support here and elsewhere is mostly about fear of Obama in the White House with a Democrat controlled congress. That thought even scares me, but not enough to vote for McCain.

Maybe the situation with the economy will prevent Obama from being able to do all the things he wants to do. Just looking for the bright side.

I actually think you're correct. Whoever wins will have to deal with far too many other issues to focus on "improving" things.

Demographers predicted years ago that the country would eventually split. That's what I expect.

We aren't demographers but my hubby and I have been saying the same thing for several years. These last few presidential elections have been so close and it seems on so many issues there is usually a near 50-50 opinion split among the people.

How can we possibly be a united country when slightly more than half of us are pushing the rest of us around all the time? I honestly think a split would be a good thing for everyone. Let the socialists have their own country. It doesn't bother me one bit. I just don't want to be forced to be part of it.

McCain has no chance. Look at this cool website from some statisticians - http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/ They are giving him a 90.5% chance of winning at this point.

In order to be evil you have to have a brain. It is inconceivable that anyone who believes in limited government could consider Obama the lesser evil. It is just as inconceivable that they could consider McCain to be any good either.

And we can do this and maintain a united nation. We just have to agree to disagree, and move to states where our people have the advantage. As long as they don't ever steal excessive federal taxes from us to do their socialistic states, I for one can live with them.

As for the election, well, if money can still buy the White House it belongs to Obama. And, quite honestly, the thought of him and a primarily Democratic Congress doesn't scare me all that much, as I've seen that often and have yet to see it advance the DNC agenda like a well-oiled machine.

"I belong to no organized political party. I'm a Democrat."--Will Rogers

That said, one thing about an Obama presidency does scare me. If some jackass shoots him, our cities will burn.

I'm not going to vote for either, but anyone who remotely thinks that Obama is the lesser of two evils has LOST IT.

The GOP has all but conceded defeat in the Presidential election but they are worried about losing another 6-9 seats in Congress which means they wouldn't even have enough for a filibuster. That has only happened two other times in our history. The "New Deal" from Roosevelt which gave the Government huge powers over the Market and almost destroyed capitalism and Free Markets (they said it would be temporary but they never gave those powers back), and the "Great Society" by Lyndon Johnson that changed our political landscape forever and pushed us even closer to a Socialist state by redistributing wealth through programs like Medicare, Medicade, etc.

Some in the GOP ranks know this is coming and want to step back and let the Democrats hang themselves so that in two and four years they can try to take back control of the Congress and white house.

Make no mistake about it. An Obama presidency will be MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH worse that McCain in office because without the ability to stop Congress even with a filibuster, they will change this country FOREVER and there will be nothing to stop them.

Well whether we like it or not one of these two men are going to be our next President baring a miracle awakening of the sheeple these next 3 weeks.

Face it, we will not get limited government with either man. What do you expect when you have two Democrats on the ticket?

I agree. Honestly, there's just something about McCain that I despise. It goes beyond the politics of it (where I disagree with both of them)- McWar just irks me.

Of course, his being a complete dumb ass and being cavalier about sending our soldiers to die in pointless wars is a part of it.

Palin, of course, is just completely unqualified- just makes it easier to dismiss the McWar/Palin ticket.

In a way, having McCain take a drubbing, while the Republicans lose even more seats in congress, will probably be a good thing. Only then will they be willing to fix the party.

If McCain was to somehow win, it would only encourage the neocons, and the Republican Party would not change.

But I don't believe for a minute that Obama is worse than McCain otherwise.

Did I mention that I despise John Sidney McCain with a passion?

Of course, when McCain comes up with STUPID ideas about spending $300 million (his estimate- the folks at CNBC say it would really cost 2-4 TRILLION) to buy the mortgages of irresponsible home purchasers?

That would have been stupid even for a Democrat, but that kind of crap coming from a Republican is reason enough for the Republicans to drop him from the ticket!

McCain may be using Ayers out of desperation, but it is not absurd by any standard. Ayers is just one of many Marxists that Obama has been closely involved with throughout his life. Obama is clearly the most leftist person ever elected to any statewide office in American history. He is smart enough to know how far outside the mainstream he is and he panders accordingly.

I hope intelligence is factored in too. I am trying to look on the bright side and hope the Patriot Act gets repealed. Both Obama and Biden were Constitutional Law professors. There was some question about Obama but Factcheck supports it.

http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/was_barack_obama_really_a_constitutional_law.html

Biden still teaches constitutional law.

http://lawschool.about.com/b/2008/09/06/biden-takes-time-out-to-teach-constitutional-law.htm

Maybe if some respect and knowledge of the Constitution is brought to the office, (ANYTHING at this point would be an improvement) it will open dialogue in this country and people will be more open to third parties.

I have to disagree, no body can convince me that Obama is more dangerous than McCain or even equal. Everything can be repaired but the loss of human lives. McCain presidency equals to: a massive number of innocent lives to be lost, while Obama means less innocent lives to be lost. That is the most important thing to me when it comes to both of these candidates.

McCain is a war monger and you might expect a war with Russia if he takes over. That is in addition that an investigation in 9/11 will never take place under the war monger McCain. The Israeli Phalestinian conflict will never see a sunrise under McCain plus that bombing Iran is most likely to happen under McCain than under Obama plus that the tension between US, Venezuela and Cuba will never see an end under the warmonger McCain. Ron Paul grassroots will be able to move and act more freely under Obama than under McCain.

Weighting the amount of experience that Obama holds plus the number of years he has been involved in politics on a high level, I can say confidentially that he is less evil.

Anyone of us / All of us who paid close attention to McCain during the year of GOP debates realizes he is TOTALLY unacceptable as a Republican or even as a centrist/pandering populist.

And his choice of Sarah Palin - a weak candidate - has backfired.

And Governor Palin had a weak performance against Joe Biden :

http://news.yahoo.com/election/2008/dashboard
But Americans are dumb, and even a couple states like Florida could change this around back for him, so yeah, about a 10% chance sounds about right.

And it seems that this has now forced the McCain campaign to bring out their October "surprise/attack" out early - the are trying to spin this Ayers connection to Obama for whatever it's worth to get back into this.

The RNC put forth the least competent candidate for a reason. People are slowly waking up to the Neo-Con agenda. Gotta have a distraction, let the black guy screw it up and we will be golden.

I once thought this way too, until I realized the truth about the MYTH that Obama will get us out of Iraq, not also attack Iran, and also not start a cold war with Russia. BOTH will do it....the difference is that McCain is open about it.

Obama is a snake charmer. I'm waiting for someone to give him a hat and a flute. He will say whatever he needs to say depending on who he is talking to. He has already changed his position about withdrawing from Iraq 5 times during this campaign.

But having complete control of the presidency, the House, and the Senate will change this country forever. We can't say that it is temporary because the "New Deal" and the "Great Society" changes are still in effect today as we get closer and closer to a socialist state. Add that to the fact that Obama will STILL do all of the same things that McCain would do ANYWAY. Why are people so sure that Obama is somehow anti-war?

You need to get a grip- Obama is certainly not the most leftist person ever elected to statewide office. Of course he's liberal (duh?), but he's not even the most liberal currently in office, let alone "ever."

For starters, look up the name "Bernie Sanders"- Socialist, er, Independent, Senator from Vermont..

I cannot think of many, if any, issues I agree with Obama on and I believe he would actuallly follow through with or at least put forth a good effort and stand for principle on those issues. Watch:

"Ron Paul is smart enough to keep his positions and rhetoric close to the mainstream, but make no mistake, he is as left as they get. "

See, I just made a crazy accusation, and you can't "disprove" it, but that doesn't make it so, does it?

Based on reading his books, he sure as hell doesn't sound as far left as Sanders or Kennedy or others in congress (and, FYI, he wrote one of those books LONG before getting into politics).
