"John McCain spends US$5500 on a make-up artist?
Wednesday, October 8, 2008
Has everyone forgotten the focus of the 2008 presidential campaign? It seems so, with daily reports coming to us on who wore what make-up and fashions, and where. Here's a brief recap.
* Slideshow: Jennifer Hawkins' hot hairstyles
* News & views: And the newest designer for Target is ...
* Us Weekly magazine is reporting that John McCain spends more than US$5500 on his make-up artist. Yes, really. Tifanie White — who's done faces for American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance — has scored the role of getting him ready for TV spots.
* Not one, but two brands have created Sarah Palin-inspired lippies. New Mexico brand, The Alchemist's Apprentice, has created a shade called Power Pink, while the Pit Bull Mom group has designed Pale N' Pink (get it?).
* US hair accessories designer One Plaid Aunt, has created Michelle and Barack Obama hair clips. The finishing touch to every voting fashionista's outfit!
* The Huffington Post has been speculating whether Sarah Palin's lip-liner is tattooed. Because that will make the difference between being a good vice-president or not, won't it?
* The New York magazine has revealed that Sarah Palin has a secret team of stylists. Y'know, like the fashion CIA. We thinks they're not so secret anymore.
* Cindy McCain was criticised for reportedly wearing US$300,000 worth of designer clothes and jewellery (sorry, jewelry) for her RNC speech. Perhaps this is why Sarah's stylists are meant to be a secret?
* It's been suggested that Palin uses an entire can of hairspray on her bouffant (well, that was in her pageant days). Not a fan of lacquer? Head on over to WigSalon.com for Sarah Palin hair pieces. Yours for less than $150, or for the money conscious, you can get the "Bargain Sarah Palin" version for under US$50 .
* John McCain may not be a fan of Paris Hilton, but the starlet and his running mate have worn the same brand of shoes: bright-red, peep-toe pumps by Naughty Monkey.
* The Wall Street Journal has reported that Palin's glasses — rimless frames made by Kazuo Kawasaki — are now on back order. Why? We're still trying to figure that one out.
* MAC VP, Gordon Espinet, created recommended make-up looks for Cindy, Michelle and Sarah. His tip: "Red lipstick is a great option as it commands attention and communicates a desire to be taken seriously."
* And, of course, there was Obama's comment about pigs wearing lipstick ..."
