Dear Friend,

A lot of folks have begun calling B.J. Lawson the next Ron Paul. The comparison is very flattering. . . for me.

For those who are not yet familiar, B.J. Lawson is a wonderful young candidate running for Congress in North Carolina's Fourth Congressional District. B.J. is a medical doctor, family man, Constitutionalist and a fierce defender of individual freedom. We need B.J. Lawson in Congress to stand beside me in the fight for liberty, and against the corporate socialism that has overtaken our economy!

B.J. is running against an entrenched big government liberal who voted for the $700 billion taxpayer bailout of Wall Street and has a long history of voting for huge spending, raiding your social security trust fund for pet projects, and even voted for the Patriot Act.

A recent poll shows B.J. Lawson within striking distance in this election, but he needs your help!

B.J. needs $250,000, right away, to run the campaign he needs to take this race right down the the wire. I know that if we band together, we can help him get the money he needs.

I am asking you, as a fellow Defender of Liberty, to mark the four week countdown to this November's election and join with me and donate to B.J. Lawson's campaign this Tuesday, October 7th. I know times are tough, but that is all the more reason why we need to send a message and help B.J. Lawson.

Contributions can be made at http://www.lawsonforcongress.com

This one-day "Money Bomb" could be what it takes to propel the next Ron Paul into Congress. I hope you will join me to support B.J. Lawson with your on-line contribution this Tuesday, October 7th.

Sincerely,

http://app.campaignerpro.com/accountsmedia/5858/ronsig.jpg

Let's make David Price (B.J.'s opponent) a bailout casualty! I'm sure we'd all like to see 263 representatives voted out next month, let's make sure at least this one is voted out!

I've already donated... I wanted to channel my anger towards the bailout in a positive way. I didn't want to wait for a given day. Time is running out and he could use the money now!

Great! Let's not support people just because they are open to certain ideas with which we currently may not agree!

You do know that the idea he's OPEN to (but not committed to supporting) is to replace the income tax with a Carbon tax, correct? And you do know there's a legitimate libertarian argument to be made for it, yes?

I just donated $500 the other day, I'm tapped for a couple weeks, you guys, make me proud and donate big time to BJ. He's gaining ground and the bailout vote by Price needs to be taken advantage of.

Dems are voting for BJ, it's the only way he'll win, so BJ needs to get the message out to those Dems and let them know how messes up the bailout is, and that takes money.

Are you implying that BJ Lawson supports a Carbon Tax? If so, please provide evidence for your claim.
He said he has considered it to replace the income tax, capital gains tax, and estate tax. Not a bad deal.

Read This:

I am opposed to net new taxes, and believe that reducing spending as well as eliminating our counterproductive income tax code is the most important goal we should strive for in pursuit of economic growth.

I am also in agreement that we need a serious conversation about the consequences of a debt-based monetary system, and the resulting need to perpetually enslave our nation to higher taxes and less freedom as a result of growing interest payments on perpetually-growing debt.

My question, though, is how do we get from Point A to Point B? It seems that we will need taxation to fund government, and I believe that we should tax things we don’t want, and not tax things that we DO want. That is, don’t tax income — we want more jobs, income and productivity. How about taxing consumption that has negative side effects? My support for a so-called “carbon tax” reflects a desire to get to a method of taxation that is direct, Constitutional, and takes into account “negative externalities” — that is, hidden costs which affect everyone negatively.

I’m less sanguine about the FairTax, because that puts the federal government (directly or indirectly) in a position of control over *every* retail transaction. Even essentials like food. It seems odd that we should have to pay tax to the feds to eat.

The idea of a “consumption tax” targeting consumption that is non-sustainable, non-renewable, and that has negative effects on the environment is more justifiable, however. Regardless of whether one believes that climate change is man-made, there are negative side-effects to consuming nonrenewable resources at accelerating rates. So why not tax nonrewable consumption to reflect the fact that burning stuff dirties our environment?

Bottom line is that I’m absolutely committed to reducing the size, scope, and complexity of government. Cap and trade is a disaster waiting to be gamed by corporate interests, and a simple, well-executed carbon tax targeting negative externalities could be, in my opinion, a great replacement for a disastrous system of income, capital gains, and estate taxation.

No, I will not fu*k off. I'm right here and there is not one thing you can do about it.

Anyone who advocates replacing the income tax with a carbon tax, fair tax, or other tax is a monster. It's just replacing one unacceptable tax that props up big government with another tax.

your intelligence is nonexistent

No, my intelligence is at least higher than those who have no principles who are not capable of reading.

This is from his website.

Another alternative I'm exploring that also addresses concerns for environmental and energy policy is a Carbon Tax. A simple Carbon Tax is preferable to the complicated game of "cap and trade" for carbon credits, and a Carbon Tax is justifiable regardless of your position on man-made global warming. Everyone agrees that we need to reduce our reliance on nonrenewable energy. While this is a discussion we're just beginning, it's important to look at all of these potential options.

So does BJ, but both BJ and Ron Paul would consider an alternative tax to replace the income tax as a stepping stone if given the opportunity.

So does BJ, but both BJ and Ron Paul would consider an alternative tax to replace the income tax as a stepping stone if given the opportunity.

No, he would not consider an alternative tax. Ron Paul has stated that an alternative tax would be "better" than the income tax, but Ron Paul would NEVER vote to institute the Fair Tax or a Carbon Tax.

There is a difference between objectively thinking one tax might be slightly better than another tax and supporting that new tax.

The fact of the matter is that Ron Paul states that he wants the income tax abolished and replaced with nothing. He has never said he was considering the Fair Tax or a Carbon tax. The fact that BJ Lawson considers these other taxes makes him scum.

Also, the fact that he is too cowardly to put anything about the war on drugs on his website makes me realize he is scum too.

Okay, back to Menthol. I am seeing something VERY interesting happening here lately. I see some very screwy and "weird" Pro-libertarian people on here just being viscious and downright ignorant and lame and yet they always seem to throw out the "libertarian" monikor... constantly. This is what I am thinking. These people are NOT libertarians (many of them), but actually liberals or marxists or neocons - or whatever. The point is to divide the vote further away from any third party possibility. I found myself thinking "these libertarians are borderline socialists and marxists" or "wow, that libertarian is acting very childish".. and then I remember many of the old posters and how they were and how in the beggining the libertarians were very, well, pleasant, and cool. Not so now. Why? Whats changed... the tactic. I am beginning to think that some of the others have it right, these people are dissuading from a third part legitimacy by turning people off to "one of the real possible vote getters" - Barr. Think about it.

I'm in...for the first time in a long time. :) These guys really are probably our best shots at making tangible headway this election, and after the crime that took place this week, I think it's time to start focusing on a clear goal again! :D

BJ Lawson strikes a chord with me, and Conley's a great bet as well - if he gets into the Senate, he can filibuster his ass off, given some level of half-assed support from others at least. It probably would've worked this week, for instance.

BUMP!

Ron Paul is like 73...he can only function as a congressman for another 10 years tops. I know it's not pleasant to think about, but people at this age suddenly get ill and die. We need a young Ron Paul replacement in there now!

BJ Lawson and Bob Conley are the only Ron Paul candidates that actually have a chance at winning. Screw the Third Party candidates, lets focus on these two guys.

Ron Paul Endorses October 7th Moneybomb (http://www.lawsonforcongress.com/pages/october-7/)

Friends,

During my presidential campaign, we set records and shocked the political establishment with "Money Bombs." Individuals came together and pooled their contributions, large and small, to make a huge splash on one day. And, boy, did the Washington fat cats take notice!

Today, I am asking you to do the same for my friend B.J. Lawson.

Will you make a contribution at LawsonForCongress.com (http://www.lawsonforcongress.com/pages/october-7/)?

I need B.J. in Congress with me to stand up for liberty and limited government, and against the Patriot Act and Wall Street bailouts.

B.J. Lawson is a terrific candidate, and will make a wonderful Congressman. But he needs your help, and time is urgent. Today marks the four week countdown to November's election. The Lawson campaign needs money today to buy radio ads, TV commercials and mail to undecided voters. If we band together today, we can send B.J. Lawson to Congress.

Your generous contribution made at LawsonForCongress.com (http://www.lawsonforcongress.com/pages/october-7/) would be a tremendous gift for the cause of Liberty. Can you help today?

In Liberty,

Ron Paul
