This may belong in the economics area but I think it is extremely important for people to know about what is going on in California as the MSM is keeping it fairly hidden. Looks California (http://www.runtogold.com/Run_To_Gold/Run_To_Gold_Blog/Entries/2008/10/2_California_Bond_Crunch.html) could erupt into massive chaos within a month or two. For those on the ground in California I really hope you, your friends and family are prepared.

If we do experience a complete collapse a city is not the place you'll want to be. The concentration of people is just too high to support if they lose access to imported resources.

At least he has a minimal source to make that obscure/stupid prediction. You on the other hand, http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?p=1722463.

Sorry, but California has brought it on themselves

All their do good stars and people touting all their liberal programs.

Let all the Hollywood Stars and Liberals bail them out.

Start with Barbara S, Jane Fonda, Madonna, Bette M and add to the list. You all know them.

I feel for the hard working, but these idiots with their idiot programs brought it on, and I am not paying a cent. Let them eat crumbs now.

California needs to get shock therapy to wake them up. They have put every liberal bill into law and now let them deal with it or throw them out.

Another way to wake them up, is quit paying the high ticket prices for their shows.

Times are tough, and let them feel the average person pain.

I am not buying the woe is me routine for Ca. Other states yes.

Well, I'm sure all 10,000 troops in America will be busy in California. No one will notice if Louisiana secedes.

Please inform me if Louisiana attempts to secede, I would pick and leave if they did that.

Hopefully all the illegals leave.

Given our luck, not a chance. We'll have to feed and house them too -- of course, at our expense. Maybe some will get some balls and only allow "citizens" to partake in government services during the downturn ---- oh wait.. "aren't we all just citizens of the world? As long as someone else pays for it, of course".

Well, I think that the people that we have running the state currently are too much like jellyfish to stand up on their own two feet. As for us Cajuns and Native Americans in Louisiana, we were involuntarily purchased by the U.S. We could make it without them. We had a thriving society here long before we were purchased like a bunch of slaves. Once the feds leave and our drinking age is 18 again, we will have no problem surviving economically. :)

I have both Legal and Economic CONTACTS in Sacramento, CA.

One of the hidden "DATA POINTS" the state government is CONCEALING: Failures of Small Business across California.

They are told NOT to include these closures and failures into the mix of numbers, as NOT to PANIC the Public and they would STOP CONSUMING... which leads to an even deeper recession and less TAX REVENUE for the State.

Glad to see Sacramento is looking out for the small guy.

UNEMPLOYMENT is also skyrocketing... the Sacramento Metro area is publically announced at 7.5% +/- .5%, but true numbers are now tipping over 8%.

California has a TON of BONDS floating on this Election to carry the state through the crisis.

This is a perfect example of the ARTIFICIALLY OVER-INFLATED, HIGH COST of LIVING in California, coming back down to reality.

PS: They have a $15 BILLION shortfall and businesses are moving out of the HIGH COST state.

There's an EXAMPLE of SOCIALISM destroying a once wonderful state.

PSS: Don't any of you SOCIALIST come running to Nevada to save some bucks, we have enough problems with Californian Transplants jacking their laws and expenses upon Nevadans. LOL

Even if the state collapses, people run riot in the streets, and dogs start sleeping with cats, California will still be a better place to live than any place in the bible-belt.

Our worst day of destruction, is still 100 times better than your best day.

Suck it.

ya... i think California is in really bad shape. but i think California will get a bailout. The Federal Government will probably step in to provide "liquidity". I think the government will do whatever it takes to prevent things from melting down. they'll print as much money as it takes to prevent chaos. unfortunately, the government can only do this until the point when they hyper inflate the currency, at which point, they will be out of bullets and the empire comes crumbling down.

Saw this on the news last night. Suck it up Arnie!

Even here in Kansas we got about 3 Billion in debt, and I don't think we're going to be getting a bailout anytime soon.

It's funny though. As per Kansas constitution the state government isn't allowed to incur any debt (aka borrow money). But the banks loophole around this because...

1. Bond issuance isn't considered borrowing (semantics)
2. The government is complicit because its easier than taxing to pay for things.
3. Sheeple aren't educated enough to know the dangers of our current system.

Hehe...

Just what I was told... keep paying the FAT CA government salaries and pensions! (Reuters) - California may need an emergency loan of up to $7 billion from the federal government within weeks, the Los Angeles Times on Friday quoted Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger as saying in a letter to U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson.

PEOPLE to BAILOUT government at ALL levels...

the REAL questions the voters should be asking, when is it going to stop?

HOW MUCH MORE?

Wasteful INEFFICIENT GOVERNMENT... EXPOSED!
In the letter dated October 2, Schwarzenegger called for the passage of the $700 billion financial industry bailout plan which the U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote on Friday, the Times said.
