There are only two peoples campaigns I've ever donated to in my life. Paul and Lawson.

Here's an e-mail I got from my congress person:

Dear Dannno,

Thank you for contacting me about the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act (H.R. 1424). I share your deep concern about the health of our financial markets, the economy and the President’s proposal to address these issues.

I voted, with great reluctance, in favor of this bill.

http://i38.tinypic.com/4fiwj.jpg

I did so because of the very serious threat that numerous economic experts have told me hangs over our economy as a result of increasing crisis in financial markets. I believe that this crisis gripping Wall Street could begin to strangle Main Street if left unresolved.

The financial emergency has greatly constricted credit markets, affecting everyone from the small business owner who needs short term loans to make payroll or buy inventory to the student who needs financial aid. And a grinding halt to lending would mean even higher unemployment (we’ve lost nearly 1 million jobs this year alone) and plummeting stock markets which destroy retirement savings. I encourage you to read my full statements on the two bills that came before the House on this issue, which you can do by clicking here and here.

Please know that I worked hard to ensure this economic rescue package contained several important provisions to protect taxpayers’ interests originally lacking in the President’s proposal. I also supported the inclusion of provisions to limit executive pay, ensure rigorous oversight and begin implementing common sense regulatory reforms so we don’t find ourselves in this mess again.

I know people are deeply angry about this situation. I am as well. But I supported this emergency measure because I honestly believe it is in the best interests of everyone on the South and Central Coasts.

Thank you again for sharing your concerns with me. Please keep in touch.

Sincerely,

LOIS CAPPS
Member of Congress
