I need to buy some gold quickly, and I need to know a good reference as for how I should go about buying it and from where. Your opinions at least.

Ditto. A Gold bug I know in Illinois uses one particular shop in particular because the receipt is handwritten, and has no names attached to the transaction.

Then you should probably take physical possession of your reserve notes, purchase silver, or purchase non perishables.

Gold is useful to protect large amounts of money against inflation, make some cash here and there, and bartering for high value items or services.

Keep individual purchases below 10,000.

Do not buy gold and silver coins.

Buy gold and silver by weight. Bullion.

Buy from reputable mints. This will make a huge difference when trading.

One ounce bars are a good start for gold.

You should consider silver then. Look at 90% coins.

Alright, thanks for the advice guys. I'm just trying to figure out what is the best thing I can do (with what I have) to prepare for what I forsee as a dollar falling over a cliff. If this bailout fails I see a panic by those affected by the media sensationalism, and if it succeeds I see a panic once everyone realised they just threw 700 billion+ at something and it did absolutely nothing and they are now just 700billion+ further in debt as a nation.

Silver is good.

Check the daily rate for silver or gold (Your dealer will).

Buy stamped ingot originally stamped from a well known mint.

Then it will be liquid.

Hand me a ingot from Zanzabar...

I don't want to know.
