I call this political pusturing for the Republicans. Given the recent HORRIBLE poll reading as of late for the Republicans, this is expected posturing becuase they are either really concerned about being re-elected or they are playing theatre so that there are just enough votes to pass at the same time the "Real Republicans" will fall on their sword so long as they get a phat check somewhere along the line from the greedy globalists. 99.9% of the decision making has nothing to do with principle and everything to do with politic

this is what will probably happen. the market will tank in the morning both sides know this all their rich friends know this.

then they will reach a deal around noon and the market will rebound and go through the roof. They have to wait till people are up and watching tv so they can put on their Dog and Pony show.

the rich will get richer and everyone goes home happy except the taxpayers. The republicans will try to paint Mccain as the savior and the democrats will do the same for Obama.

Then they both show up to the debate with smiles.

You are most likely right, however i like to fantasize the G.O.P is sensing the winds of change. The demofrauds are using their standard tactic of bribery, which in reality just keeps their voters in perpetual slavery.

We may have lost this election for POTUS,but Dr.Paul, and our activism, has started a way of thinking that can't be stopped.
If we keep it up,i bet the Fed will be gone within 20 years.

Yeah i hope im wrong but I've seen it happen too many times.

I'm sure some will vote No so they can say they did. But they already have enough votes to pass it. this is just part of the show to make it look like they're doing something.

Also i think they could wait till monday since WaMu went bye bye. but the market would really look bad by then.

Oh goody, it's already beginning. Just when I was getting bored of my movie collection. Some highlights from the article:

First off, any time you see Chuck Schumer in any photo, whatever event it was was bad for the liberty movement.

"a contentious shouting match" described by McCain's campaign...that's the first time I heard any shouting ascribed to McCain. Earlier reports had him being very quiet in all the meetings and taking no firm position. This probably means some of his smarter advisors arre encouraging him to distance himself from the administration.

Interesting....the Neocon ranks have finally split. Should be really fun from here....

Next, we learn that "Conservatives were in revolt over the astonishing price tag of the proposal and the hand of government that it would place on private markets." BWA HA HA HA HA HA! Yeah, since 2 days ago when every fax machine on the Hill got clogged. Nope, all indications from ranking democrats is that they were ready to do the deal---until they got caught red handed.

And notice it's the "conservative alternative" they are pushing now? It's every bit as unconstitutional as the Paulson Abortion. Government has no business or mandate to get involved in lending. It's part of what got us into trouble in the first place. And what the hell is this "dividend" they are talking about? I don't want part of MY MONEY back in a "dividend", I want these bastards to stop taxing me to death.

But there you go. I think we'll be hearing a lot about "the conservative alternative".

Whatever the case, all you had to do is read the first paragraph to see where the "press" is leading the reader (bold is my emphasis):

- A Republican rebellion stalled government efforts Thursday to avoid economic meltdown, a chaotic turnaround that disrupted the choreography of an extraordinary White House meeting meant to show joint resolve from the president, the political parties and the presidential candidates.

As if the alternative is anything different and yet worse

We are hopelessly outnumbered until we can take back the media.

I think we all have a golden (no gold-bug pun intended) opportunity ahead of us. At least I do; I've been talking to my family about our economy collapsing since about 2.5 years ago; hell, the world economy even. They all thought I was mad, but unless you were willingly ignorant, ignorant, or just stupid what was it to you to know any different?

And thus is the problem... With excessive freedoms individuals grow lazy (myself included). Hopefully, with the communications technology we have at our disposal we an take advantage of the situation and use it to our advantage; and really, what is our opposition? So long as you can search the Internet for knowledge, there is no reason for anyone to depend on "intellectuals" to determine what is affordable, Constitutional, relevant, concise, immoral, etc, etc,. That's up to you and your community!~

The bullshit reason I think it will pass and everyone will feel good about their seats in the white house. They are making such a HUGE stink over the golden parachutes and I bet its not even a TINY amount of that 700 billion. They will say well .. we got what we wanted . no golden parachutes and all the sheep out in TV land will breathe a sigh of relief like they won the battle and this whole shebang is ok.

And tonight's debate (supposedly) is on foreign policy, not the economy. Talk about a shell game.

The senate is almost totally corrupt. I still have a flicker of hope for the house.

Call me an optimist.

The conservative plan is far better. Perhaps we should be PUSHING for that one while simultaneously deriding the other. :-)

Don't antagonize the Republicans for opposing this Bill.

Who are we to antagonize the help were getting because we question their motivations. The Republicans are killing the Bill. Period. Lets help and keep the pressure up. We have empowered these conservatives to vote their conscience by activism. They are calling this "socialism" in their responses to the Bill. Please keep your eye on the ball, if it weren't for us this would've passed in an hour a couple of days ago, now there's a chance the Republicans may be burying it. The democrats have said they will not push the deal if Republicans oppose it, bc they don't want partisan association. Keep up the fight!
