the scary aspect is that many gov't employee retirement funds are "defined benefit," and many state and local Treasurers invest primarily in equities. Not only is this a "moral" clusterf#ck as bureaucrats choose what companies to support - some even pimp these companies - it also opens these clowns to be set up and swayed by the analysts and brokers from Merrill, Lehman, Bear, etc. Portfolio managers w/$billions under their control can be swayed (i was one). If you look up into a luxury box at a football game, chances are you'll see a gov't treasurer of some kind there. were it a defined contribution plan, you wouldn't see a few hundred state-troopers in the Goldman box at the game.

But, even worse, some of these retirement account funds can often be directed to venture capital. Looking through Washington's books in 2000, i was appalled to see retirment funds invested in venture capital (dot-coms).

local and federal gov't retirement plans and the unfunded portions are not big news, but they should be. they're huge, and growing by the second. and funding these will fall on us like [another] ton of bricks.

When I first saw this post, my initial reaction was to cry "BULL SHIT!"

So I clicked the video. A 2+ hour long Alex Jones rant. I'll admit, I didn't have the stomach to wade through it.

However, I will make a couple of points.

"Commodity Trading Advisors" have NOTHING TO DO WITH THE STOCK MARKET. A "commodity trading advisor " has about as much expertise on the stock market as a truck driver does.

Do you have a shorter explanation of how the "Government owns 70% of the stock market?" I'm up for a good laugh...
