This article is necessary reading at a time when Wall Street is narrating its own disaster largely uncontested.

Overnight, the U.S. Treasury and Federal Reserve have radically changed the character of American capitalism. It is nothing less than a coup d’ętat for the class that FDR called “banksters.” What has happened in the past two weeks threatens to change the coming century – irreversibly, if they can get away with it. This is the largest and most inequitable transfer of wealth since the land giveaways to the railroad barons during the Civil War era.

rom NYT article today:

Democrats had pushed for a fee on securities transactions, essentially a tax on financial firms, saying it was fitting that they contribute to the cost.

In the end, lawmakers and the administration opted to leave the decision to the next president, who must present a proposal to Congress to pay for any losses.
------

This is a much bigger deal than the executive "compensation" that will be used to try to get this bill through in the Corporate Media.

Of course had dems TRIED to talk this up in the media they would have recieved massive public support but it looks like it will never make it to the airwaves.
