Take your best bet.

Also any guesses on how low the DOW will get before year end - not even an educated guess since it all depends on what the bankers decide - but let's wee what you think.

Personally I say it breaks 10K this month.

I will go with this is a true SHTF scenario and the DOW hits 6K before year end.

Where and when will gold and the DOW meet?

Well, with gold just under $1000, and with the DOW just over 10,000, if they ever do meet, I would think around $5000 would make sense. The dollar and the U.S economy would have to drop quite a bit and they would both counterbalance each other.

I believe this was Schiff's prediction, anyway. I might be mistaken.

Yeah, that's why I asked. :D

I think it will go under 10k tomorrow.

If that happens, only those holding precious metals come out ahead. Our economy would be in the crapper.

Probably. And isn't it really just catching up with inflation?

No, it's catching up with market forces. Catching up with inflation would have it going up since each point would be worth more dollars since dollars are worth less (and worthless).

When was the last time it went below 10,000?

It looks like October 26th, 2004 was the last day it closed below 10k.

I've heard the end of the U.S. Fiscal Year on Sept 30th could be disastrous.
I picked this friday on the poll but the end of the month could be mad bad.

I give it by the end of the year, no later. The question should be, will it go under 5K? That's when the signs are clear, we're in a depression.

I was going to post another poll, saying how low will the DOW get this year, but people that go poll-crazy annoy me so I didn't, I just posited the question.

Thought I would resurrect this poll seeing as it became pertinent today.

Those who said before the end of the month (September) were close, but those who said before the end of the year were correct.

What do I win?
