McCain, the Arizona senator whose presidential bid has stumbled through the summer, countered the Concord High School students with humor.

"Thanks for the question, you little jerk," McCain joked back to one student who asked the 71-year-old about his age. "You're drafted."

It's a funny quip, I suppose, but his following statement takes a dark turn.

"If this war continues much longer, there will be people in this audience who will serve in the military, who also may be going over there (in Iraq) or to Afghanistan," McCain told the high school students.

This kid deserves something.

"I came here looking to see a good leader," 16-year-old William Sleaster told McCain, earning himself boos from his classmates. "I don't."

The MSM loves McCain...that's the only reason he's still in the race, even though he has scarce support at best. He thinks he can use them to save him. I predict he is in for a disappointment.

As James Ostrowski (http://www.lewrockwell.com/ostrowski/ostrowski85.html) recently wrote:

I think it’s too early to write off McCain. He’s still in double digits nationally and he’s a tough old bird with a compelling personal story and lingering media support.

McCain's inertia is still enough to allow his campaign to stay in motion albeit at a reduced speed from all the foul ups.

I don't see much of a maverick in the man, I always viewed that as a facade that played well at one time. There's only one straight talking, straight shooting maverick in the race, and it ain't McCain.

McCain has seemingly learned nothing from his Vietnam experience except a lust for more illegal wars.

Well, at least he doesn't advocate torture...
